I'm not sure anyone wants to hear it but Mark McKenzie is a big fan of Jhye Clark. I'm not sure who has the last say in these choices with the new coach and new dynamic, but everyone should be very prepared for the outcome that the average sized and reliable yet seemingly uninspiring pick could be ours. Much the same as last season in fact, and looking at Ward's output this season I wouldn't be upset at all for history to repeat.

Where did you hear this?

Clark is a gun. Criminally underrated on this board.

If we take him I can guarantee the media narrative will be "hawks steal Clark from under cats' noses" as if they had some god-given right to him in the first place!

Blake Drury
State: Victoria Metro
State League Club: Oakleigh Chargers
Community Club: Vermont
Date of Birth: 11/01/04; Height: 176cm; Weight: 73kg
Prolific ball-winning midfielder with a wonderful combination of speed and endurance, which together with his game sense and composure always has him in the centre of the action. His best performance in the National Championships was his 26 disposals and eight inside 50s in Victoria Metro’s win against the Allies. Overall, he averaged 19 disposals across four matches for Victoria Metro, who he served as co-captain. Had similar consistent performances for the Oakleigh Chargers, averaging 19 disposals and kicking seven goals in seven matches to make the NAB League Team of the Year. Always plays with high energy and is a clever user of the ball. His 6:25 seconds 2km time trial at the Draft Combine showed not just his excellent endurance, but a glimpse of his competitive edge

I could deal with it if it pisses geelong off

Disagree. I have him last out of Tsatas, Poo, Mackenzie and Humphrey. I'd be sadly disappointed if we took him. Vanilla.
Nothing wrong with vanilla everyone likes vanilla it’s great the problem with the other players they have upside but also a lot of downside where vanilla Clark is going to be a 250+ gamer guaranteed he also fits with Ward and Connor Mac that we got last year. I should have says this is also a very weak draft and sometimes in a week draft better to get the safest commodity in next years super draft we Make our move with a solid foundation from this draft. I should also say I would be very happy if we got Tsatas

Dylan Moore clone. He'll drop to beyond 40 and a club will score a bargain.

When I watched the Vic Metro versus Vic country game he really stood out he doesn’t get talked about much but he really stood out it’s really stuck with me even till now maybe we can get him late in the draft

Is there any football magazines like inside football that does a draft preview like they used to do

I don't think Ward was an uninspiring pick. Hobbs would have been IMO, as Ward offered a few things we sorely lacked, being his pace and a measure of class.

THE RANCE-LIKE DEFENDER IN SIGHTS OF PIES, HAWKS, BOMBERS

A defender who has drawn comparisons to former Richmond star Alex Rance has “come with a bullet” in the second half of the year to firm as a top draft prospect.

Recruiters believe Oakleigh Chargers backman Josh Weddle has “enormous upside”, which has seen him attract significant interest ahead of this month’s national draft.

Weddle had looked a mid-to-late draft pick early in the year but is now expected to be snapped up somewhere between picks 15 and 30 on the back of his rapid improvement.

He measures 192cm but can play taller given he has a great athletic profile and is ultra competitive.

“He’s athletically very strong. He’s explosive. He can play on talls, he can play on smalls,” Oakleigh talent manager Jy Bond said.

“AFL clubs are pretty excited about him and his ability to play both ends – mid, back, forward. He’s come on really well.”

Weddle ranked second in the running vertical jump at the national draft combine and also posted impressive results in the 20m sprint and 2km time trial tests.

He is believed to have attracted interest from clubs including Collingwood, Hawthorn and Essendon – who all hold picks in the 20s.

Clubs including Collingwood, Hawthorn and Essendon have been linked to defender Josh Weddle.

Western Bulldogs. Take it to the bank.

Surprised to see us linked to another tall defender.

From the vid Mattaes seems to have a lot of confidence and self belief. Don’t see any problems here. Like with all draftees Mitch and McKenzie will assess and determine whether he is a hard worker, good character, etc. Sounds like Doddo is into him a fair bit.
