We’d be negligent not to.

This way, even if we like someone else more the Cats might feel like they need to trade up to get him, and we profit.

Imagine if they love him so much that they offer their Pick 7 and future 1st for 6 and our future 2nd. We have to show interest in him.
Seems a "meh" trade. Probably only gaining one spot in the future trades.

all good but cats can't trade their F1( as they traded their F2/F3/F4 out). Need to package F3 and F4 in as well to get their F1 or get special permission from AFL.

So instead of our F2, give F2(WB), F4(lions) & ask for special permission

It’s Thursday, seems like everyone is on Clarke today ………. tmrw? 😀. Since the GF I’ve also jumped a bit but from all the videos and articles available over the last few months would be happy with either Clarke, Tsatsas, Poo or McKenzie. We will get a quality kid!

Purely from watching all available highlights packages and reading posts from people who watch entire games (and lots of them), my current preferences are in the following order:

1. Tsatas
2. Mackenzie
3. Phillipou
4. Clark
5. Humphrey

I’d love one of the first three because they all seem to have traits that our current list of players are lacking at the moment - such as a burst of speed from a pack or being able to kick 50-55m goals on the run.

But at the end of the day, I’ll be content with whoever the club selects!

Ok under rated amogst this crop will likly end up at Collingwood but melbourne would take him if had a second rounder
If dees want 24 they could have it for one of their f2 plus a mid to late 40s pick this year. That’s on the basis we get 22 from dons and the point of the late 40s pick is would allow us to get 36,38 from lions. Know it’s the wrong thread just providing context to giving up 24.

If we are to go Clark, we would have to be eying of George and trying to get GWS's pick 19

That would be a good set of picks and maybe Clarke or Konstanty with the 3rd pick
PmBangers has George slipping to us at Pick 27 in his phantom. I’d be ecstatic, but can’t see it happening.

Clark and George would be a very good injection of top level talent.

Personally think intangibles are more overrated than traits like elite kicking.

Give me someone that has stand out key attributes as a player over a ‘winning player’. Or a ‘leader/future captain’ because we apparently have like 17 of those.

I don’t mind Clark as a prospect but Melbournes midfield this year is the perfect example of why we should not underrate foot skills especially from midfielders, if literally anyone of them had the ability to hit up a target inside 50 they probably cruise to a second flag.

I agree with you there, I would prefer if we pick someone that is either a classy elite kick, or has explosive traits, etc.

My other issue with Clark is that he is smaller than all of the other options too, but all of his strengths lean towards a contested game.

Though maybe Mitchell believes we already have those good ball users that have class in - Moore, Day, Ward and MacDonald. So maybe he sees Clark as the right option to help build the base/grunt side of the midfield with Newcombe, Stephens, Worpel and Finn.

I love that you still believe they govern things. It’s the cats they’ll find a way.

I remember David Schwarz telling the story of how he was still a Hawthorn cheersquad member during his first year with the Demons. Still didn't have him demanding to get to us down the line. The club loyalty eventually gets to the players - you'd only have to look at the club legends we have who probably loved their childhood clubs but thankfully never demanded to go there.

A guy I played footy with as a junior in country Vic grew up a mad Hawk then got drafted to the Eagles and later traded to Carlton. I ran into him a couple of years after his career finished up and he said the one club he hated the most was Hawthorn and is still a Eagle at heart. You’re right though it is all about the relationships you create and experiences you have at the club you are drafted you or gives you an opportunity that is most important. Still I’d love to know what it was that irked him about the hawks so much! Attitude? Didn’t like the players etc
