Ashcroft, Wardlaw, Tsatas and Cadman are all likely to go before him.
Possibly, possibly not. This is the most intriguing draft I can recall for many a year where it's hard to say what a team in the top 10 will be targeting outside of GWS and a KPF (Cadman). A lot of players have untapped potential and could be superstars like Philipou and Humphrey's and it's going to be all in the eye of the beholder. It's going to be a wild draft where anything is possible. Plenty of live trading is my prediction.

Hodge x Mitchell good? 😀
Just my view but I think he won’t get picked at 1 or 2 possibly but will be the best in the draft. I could be wrong but watching all the games his 1 touch is like 3 for most others…sees it before anyone and disposes of it better than anyone. Those that appear to have way more time than others often go on to be champions, and he has it in spades

Maybe not Wardlaw’s fault, but after the rave reviews I was surprised that in the first 2 mins of that clip that there weren’t many examples of him hitting a player who takes a mark inside forward 50. Most were to contests that resulted in spilled marks.

Again, maybe says more about his teammates, but I wasn’t as blown away as some seem to be.

The more I see of Sheezel, the sadder I feel about us not getting him. Hasn't happened yet though so pinning hopes on us somehow getting pick 2.

Just did a deep dive into highlights of players at the pointy end. The Sheezel highlights vs. Tasmania are enough to make you cry. Incredible creative handball, goal kicking, ball winning, composure, skills and run.

Better still, he hasn't even come close to filling out his frame.

The hype is true – he could be ridiculous, damn it.

Sheezel looks very Steve Johnson. Can’t see him lasting to our pick
To be fair, we need gilt edge ball winners. I'm not even sure I want him. To be fair, we don't have a need for a 184cm fwd flanker, no matter how skilled he is.

Our midfield is the worst in the comp.

A lot of the better midfielders in the comp started with more of a forward lean to their footy, at this stage I'd rather a forward who has played good football in the midfield than a midfielder who is unproven up forward.

Fair call. We need a centre clearance beast who can hit targets and preferably is tall.

Why is tall important? Just curious.

6 of the top 10 centre clearance and total clearance players are under 185cm.

Also if you want a player who can hit targets, forwards understand that better than most.

Height in a mid is nice, but it's behind skill, ball-winning abililty, strength, pace and decision making.

If you have two players you rank evenly on the last five, sure, go with the taller one.

As some coach said a while back, in contested situations, the ball is on the ground way more often. Being taller there won't help.

Seeing a big Cripps or Petracca bust through a pack, or take a ball overhead, always makes us want that, but the majority of their work is down and dirty, not because of their height.
