Cam MacKenzie is the answer to all our problems

Height in a mid is nice, but it's behind skill, ball-winning abililty, strength, pace and decision making.

If you have two players you rank evenly on the last five, sure, go with the taller one.

As some coach said a while back, in contested situations, the ball is on the ground way more often. Being taller there won't help.

Seeing a big Cripps or Petracca bust through a pack, or take a ball overhead, always makes us want that, but the majority of their work is down and dirty, not because of their height.
And Petracca isn't even that tall, 187cm I believe. That 3 additional cm to most midfielders isn't making a world of difference.

some rumours going around, North are not sure if they are taking Wardlaw or Sheezel, mainly because Wardlaw has had a few hamstring injuries and they are not sure if this will affect him in his career, also Sheezel as reported before has the most 200 pt champions data games ever recorded and that is tempting to North seeing as they have surplus midfield talent(wce will take whichever 1 North dont take), also GWS new coach has said he is looking for pace/speed which indicates they might be looking at Tsatas at their pick, apparently dodoro is keen on MacKenzie(which a few essendon fans are reporting), thats the news out of Essendon which means we might not have access to either Hawks supporting youngsters, G.C. have 2 picks(adelaides pick for Rankine most likely) and are linked to Busslinger with 1 of their picks and maybe Hollands at their other but thats unknown atm, they might take cadman before our pick then Busslinger after and try and trade in later for Hollands?, which some GCS fans are hoping to do, this is just speculation atm, but if this scenario plays out we might be looking at Cadman, Clark. Phillipou or Jefferson at our pick?.

That means Cadman/ Clark for us.

Just did a deep dive into highlights of players at the pointy end. The Sheezel highlights vs. Tasmania are enough to make you cry. Incredible creative handball, goal kicking, ball winning, composure, skills and run.

Better still, he hasn't even come close to filling out his frame.

The hype is true – he could be ridiculous, damn it.

Reminds me of Wingard with his vision and creative handballs that others just wouldn't see and his all-around class.

I really hope we move up the order with North or WCE and bring him home.

I agree we need that, which is why I like Sheezel despite him not necessarily being a tall mid. He plays forward but has dominated in the midfield also. He'll develop into the best player from this draft imo.

Agree, Sheezel is the number one talent IMO. He's shown he can dominate playing as a forward and playing through the middle.

I’m guessing Jefferson could be too early for our first pick but I think he’s a Gunston replacement for the future.
I’d be happy with Mackenzie and Jefferson/Dowling/Hustwaite with first 2 picks.

as has been written elsewhere, it is unlikely Wardlaw or Sheezel will be available for us. Id love Sheezel, but would be wrapped if Tsatsas was still on the board. Also unlikely however.

That leaves a top mid or forward for us......Cadman may be still there? I am not sure WC go for Hewitt/Ginbey at pick 2/3 as a bit high IMO.. Maybe they are on our radar, but not my pref I must admit.

Id be happy with Cadman/McKenzie with our first and hope the 'Big Szybkowski' is still n the board for our 2nd. A unit and he tackles.

Thread has now had a major clean up. No speculative trades, who you like on our list, or what size you think a midfielder needs to be.

Read the pinned post.

There’s a list management thread and a trade/draft thread for discussing draft and trade.

Maybe not Wardlaw’s fault, but after the rave reviews I was surprised that in the first 2 mins of that clip that there weren’t many examples of him hitting a player who takes a mark inside forward 50. Most were to contests that resulted in spilled marks.

Again, maybe says more about his teammates, but I wasn’t as blown away as some seem to be.
I've seen him live and not sold on his kicking either.
