Then can you please explain how his once great kick became mediocre (that's being kind) at both levels this year?
His kicking efficiency was recorded at 67% at AFL level which is rated above average and a career high for him.

6 of his games he had a KE of 75-80%, his shit kicking game against Port (12 kicks at 33%) dragged his average down a bit.

I do think there's a bit of romanticism about how impactful Sholl's hurt factor was, for an outside player (it REALLY tailed off after a solid start to the season)

That said, I'd like to give him an extended run again at some point next season, provided he doesn't get traded

It won't happen

We don't know how to utilise skill players at all, Sholl or anyone else. We don't hold any structure around stoppages or around the ball at any time

It's why Hately ends up on the wing and Murphy is our dream hff. Crash in, numbers to the contest, hack it forward, try to repeat the process

For us the wing/hff positions end up just crash n bash mids that we can't fit into the midfield at the present time
