This is another strange selection.
Best team man award goes to a guy in our leadership group who has had two poor years in a row and cant get into the top 10 at the B&F.
Surely the criteria for best team man is that you perform at a level that help your teammates and the team win ?
Even the bottom teams have a best team man. Your statement doesn't make sense.

So you can’t pick up stuff on a screen that you miss live?

Strengths and weaknesses in both methods. AFGM is being somewhat disingenuous (surprising to nobody) though. The example re Murphy is actually seen on TV because he comes into screen if he's providing pressure. TV eliminates a grand total of zero pressure acts.

Lower level is great to be up close to the action but for viewing it’s s**t. You have a shallow view of what’s happening at the rest of the ground.

At AO lower levels of third level is great as you get a view of the whole oval and see set ups and ball movement.

I'm not a big fan of live football. It's the worst of both worlds, outside of the atmosphere. To see what players do in the contest you need to be close to the fence, but that eliminates that view for the majority of the ground. And it's not a great position to be in terms of seeing structure, patterns, risks and opportunities. The further from the fence you are the less you get of the former and the more of the latter. TV consistently provides the best view of the contest and how players move and act within it and transitioning out of it. You don't see the running they do or where they are when the ball isn't near them, but I wouldn't sacrifice a good view of what's happening around the ball for that.

You can't have it all. If I had to summarise in one sentence, I'd say that certain positions at a game give you a better idea of how a teams are playing/performing whereas TV gives you a better idea of a player's individual impact. And how come Austar could provide multiple viewing options 20 years ago and these days it's just the one?

It must be enormous disappointment for the Bigfooty “Experts” that three whipping boys (Smith, Keays and Murphy) finished in the top ten 😆.

Clearly the coaches are clueless since the Bigfooty “Experts” (particularly those that only (occasionally) watch the team on the tellie) are the font of all wisdom. Wasn’t one fxxxen poster keen to trade Lairdy?

Dawson deserved to win and the top three were as expected imho.

Remind me again where we finished on the ladder?
Did we miss the MAESTRO?

When do we start to worry about Jordan Dawson's 2024 season? Too early?

Ranked 51 for effective disposals amongst midfielders.

Ranked 136 amongst midfielders for Disposal efficiency

Ranked 5 for Clangers amongst midfielders

Ranked 35 amongst midfielders for clearances

Ranked 24 amongst midfielders for centre clearances

Ranked 48 for stoppage clearances amongst midfielders

Ranked 58 for score involvements amongst midfielders...

Ranked 21 in turnovers amongst midfielders...

The only stat he's doing well in compared to other midfielders is metres gained 2nd at 637.5 metres but how many targets is he hitting this season thus far or should we rephrase that at how many targets is he missing?
Add it to the list of things that change after marriage

I think Dawson's stats are simply reflective of our first three performances generally. We'd have only the odd player who has improved on their 2023 stats.

That said, and covered extensively in the Nicks thread, there can only be one central theme to a general loss of form. Whatever our coaching game plan is, it's not understood or executed by the players. The skipper is just another victim of this. Dawson however, is the captain and as such, his meeting with Nicks (hopefully happened after this Freo debacle) needs to have some soul searching included. Our season is only another bad fortnight away from gonski...
