Wonderful pick, the reaction was brilliant but outside of that, he’s absolutely a need.
A elite pressure forward who has a bag of tricks. Two way worker is what we are about and he fits the bill nicely.
We tried Bell and a host of other spuds in the forward line, this guy ends that revolving door.

This is a definite need. Big part of success in modern game is forward pressure and keeping the ball in the front half. We have let go of Ronke and Bell. Wicks was very average and we have a journeyman in Clarke filling the role (albeit well). Campbell is not really the pressure type and guys like Sheldrick and Roberts are more inside mids. Papley has shown he is dangerous in bursts at centre bounce time.

Even HHK is like 6'3".
There's still Wicks, but I'm not convinced he's improving enough to be a long-term regular. Clarke is a great forward tagger but isn't that good of a pure small forward (IMO).
Reckon he will still be thereOk don't hate that, plenty of good players at 27.
Going to miss Barnett
Just based purely on list age, Hawthorn are a bottom 3 side next season.

Dunno if I'm the first person to say this but Cal Twomey still hasn't gotten a first round pick right for us.

Im happy, another pressure forward into the mix. Ronke and bell gone, and besides Clarke we don't have a genuine first side worthy full time small forward and he can free up and team well with Papley. He's competitive, known for his pressure and was bloody stoked when he heard his name. Will be battling it out real well with wicks/clarke/gussy etc.
The trade was good too, hopefully van es or barnett with 27.

True but not a pressure type. Leading half forward type, burn his opponent with pace then deliver with precision or kick the long ranger.

Are people missing the point deliberately? No draftee fills a need next year. In 1-2 years our needs are:
Ruck
KPF
KPD (slipped due to Francis, Edwards)
Small/Med defender (lockdown)

Exactly. It was a need now maybe not as big a need as a ruck but we have pick 27 and 42 tomorrow could get a tall there. Think we take the best mid at 27
We had 4 small forwards on our list last season. We delisted 2 of them. It's an area of need.

But we can't just click our fingers and conjure up the players to fill those needs. I know Barnett's available but what if our recruiters just didn't like him? Just because someone fills a position, doesn't mean they fill it well in the eyes of our recruiters. I'm not blown away by Konstanty but he seems to have a good set of attributes that's hard to see him being anything less than a decent role player who can fit into our system at the very worst.
I'd rather that than taking on a dud just because they fit the mould of a player we needed.
Wouldn't say Bell was really playing as a small forward.
Wicks, Sheather, Campbell can't get a game elsewhere so why not play him in his draft position, Sheldrick won't crack the midfield for a while, Gulden can play there.
