Aliir talking about his ankle

“The ankle is going well. I’ve run on the AlterG (anti-gravity treadmill) so I’m going to try run outside (in the coming days).

“I think when I first did it, I said (I’d be back for) the Carton or West Coast game so I’ll see how I go there.”

Dixon not training for another month. He's probably on the same schedule to return as Fantasia now. Months of no running, he's going to need a heap of conditioning.

If we hadn't already absolutely torched our season, it would've been nice to have some fresh players coming back at the pointy end. Guess it'll be nice to continue some of this enforced development of our guys though without Dixon around.

The flip side of Dixon's ongoing injury issues is that we've been able to get games into Hayes.

Oh, wait ...

At this stage it looks like Visentini will play in the AFL before Hayes. Unless Lycett gets injured I can’t see him making a debut until we’re mathematically no chance of playing finals.

I know Marshall is inconsistent but getting games into him and MG without Dixon is a good thing.

Hopefully the post Dixon era comes with a new coach but games now is better than having 50 games of Dixon this year (and maybe next) before he retires.
I agree with this. Hopefully, Mitch and Todd can rise to the challenge and show the sort of effort they did last week even against the better teams.

In a perverse sort of way it may be of benefit for the team without Dixon but then there's handbrake Hinkley who consistently stifles any type of natural flair. Encourage players to actually lead for the ball would require a major re-think for Hinkley.
