Some interesting takes on Dixon being injured.
Yes it gives opportunities to the young guys and yes our game plan is often too focused on him but I think a few are underselling his physical presence and what he provides.
His ability to ruck up forward and also his willingness to chase and tackle is a big ask for our younger forwards to fill.
Finlayson is the obvious replacement but he is by no means an impact player like Dixon.

This should be an opportunity. I expect somehow Ken will screw it up by playing one less forward or at least make a small the focal point. It should increase the chance of games for Hayes, but given we've already had multiple situations where playing Hayes was a no brainer, it won't.

With Ken still as coach, these injuries (or any) really result in:

Fantasia's injury problems, Butters/Rozee being moved into the midfield and Farrell/Williams/McEntee not being ready is why Motlop got another deal.

Good chance to maybe make some changes to the forward entries, no more bombing on Dixon but some short sharp leads. See if our coaches have the ability to change the plan.

then when he returns if the system is working he needs to work within the new game style.

chance to see what our coaches are made off and what our forwards are as well.

I for one am sick of the dump it on Dixon’s head kick. He’s far more dangerous when he’s moving

This but also Finlayson farken. Drop Lycett.

Hayes, Georgiades, Marshall is a pretty strong contingent of talls going forward. Finlayson is only 25 too.

Some serious underestimating of Dixon's influence ITT. It's terrible news. Hope the big fella recovers quickly

Fantasia I'm less concerned. Wasn't exactly an unknown that this would happen. Thus far that trade is a loss.

Lot of us don't like the fact he impacts our game plan so its utterly one dimensional.

Yeah fair enough. He's been a dominant type for a while that we have become too reliant on him. I still don't think him being injured is a good thing.

He's still our our only proven key forward and I can't see us pushing for a flag without him playing the vast majority of the year.

Fantasia was great last year when on the park, 15 games last year is not too bad. I’d take that again.

Dixon has actually been quite durable at port. And has only missed 1 game in the last 2 years.

Geez this board is depressing.

It has been depressing for a few years now, but then again it is no surprising due to our clubs off field leadership and coaching panel.

Same thing was said about Primus when he went down in ‘04
