IMO trading Sholl would be a surprising move .....I understand the education on developing a more contested game

Hell, we don't want a Jayden Stephenson type player
Sholl has been very good in the SANFL the past month. He seems AFL quality - we just seems a bit full of players wanting to play wing positions (or being shoved there, like Hately).

Thats why geelong and richmond would be in the box seat. Their 1st round picks are much more in the hitting zone than ours is
Correct ....end of 1st round seems about the right spot ....given it's a bit of a salary dump

Lots of reports that gws are having another fire sale due to cap space issues... taranto, Hopper amongst the names. Taranto probably not gettable but Hopper is nsw? Is he gettable? We should have a large chunk of cap space... pay him overs.

I think getting rid of players we don't want to keep is a pretty good strategy.

I'm more worried about being stuck with players that we've realised we don't want to keep, but I guess that happens with giving kids an extra year or so.

Whether “What we want” is sound strategy depends on the quality of our decision making.

Bad clubs stay down because they make bad decisions. Are we a good club?

Because we were too clever by half.

Like Baldrick we had cunning plans
Off loading Cameron - so cunning you could stick a tail on it, and call it a weasel

My list (Delisted):

Gone at end of 2022

Ben Davis
Brett Turner
Elliot Himmelberg
James Borlase
James Rowe
Matt Crouch (traded)
Fisher McAsey (traded - I suspect he will want a fresh start in Victoria)

Gone at end of 2023:
Billy Frampton
Andrew McPherson
Luke Brown
Paul Seedsman

I am not sure you would find a buyer for McAsey at all, you're more likely to find one for Himmelberg.

Frampton will probably be kept as depth as he can cover FWD/DEF

Jackson Hately might be one to get moved on next year. We aren't close to having a spot available for him.

That is a BIG chunk of our experienced players out of contract next year.

It's best that it's our decision.

Then, if it's wrong, we know where the responsibility lies.

Does anyone know how player payments are handled regarding long term injuries?

Also, is a typical contract inclusive or exclusive of various bonuses? If exclusive, how do these effect the salary cap.

I'd find it interesting, if someone had some insight, to learn a few more details of how these types of matters work.

If we didn't want McGovern, Crouch or Cameron, the question is 'why?"

McGovern was a very sound decision. lever wasn't.

Cameron - understandable why they did it, though it's proven to be very wrong.

Brad Crouch - seems like the right decision now, watching how St Kilda's midfield is going.

Worrell would be the one I’d keep my eye on in this years trade period, not McAsey. He’s shown enough form in the seconds IMO for Vic clubs to come knocking with the offer of more opportunity.
