Fremantle have 15 players on the list who are uncontracted for season 2023.
Does this sit ok with everyone?
Are we likely to lose a very decent player or two?
Is it normal to have so much talent exposed like this?
What would be the delay in not locking in a few by now?
15 seems too high for mine.

At this point in the season, yes.

By finals, no.

Usually the very last re-signings aren’t completed until after the trade period, but they are usually end of list types.

It does seem high, though you could argue players are more likely to stay at a club during a sustained period of success, therefore we could find ourselves on the right side of the bargaining table for once (I’m not suggesting we rip players off).

The ability to save a few hundred thousand in this negotiation period will really help down the track.

We can afford to hold out on longer on contracts if we keep winning.

Not too concerned yet.
The only players of any concern not signed beyond this season are:
Logue
Pearce
Probably Acres (I think he will be a straightforward Re-signing though).
The other uncontracted guys are either fringe or older types like Blakely, Crowden, Banfield, Colyer, Mundy.
No danger of losing any of these to other clubs so they can wait till after the trade period to be signed (if we want them fit another year) or cut.
Sturt is one to keep an eye on but he does not look like getting a game anytime soon…

I’m actually more concerned about young and Serong. Would like both locked in beyond 2023 pretty soon.

When did Moose sign his contract?

I'm a little bit surprised that he is in the top 10 paid players on our list and as such is a RFA, would have thought his injury history would have bogged down his potential income, I suppose we may have loaded this year a bit more than the other years in order to keep him as a RFA instead of an UFA, most clubs probably do this I guess.

NOD is one who springs to mind for me, he’s not going anywhere, his value is increasing, get him locked away .

Brodie would've signed a multi year deal when he got traded didn't he?

He would have fit in perfectly last year, given our goal accuracy

Given the AFL's requirement of using 2 first round picks over a rolling 4 year period, I can't see how both Horne-Francis and Jackson are possible either
We had 2 in 2021 so I think we would only need to secure a future 1st for 2025 & retain ours to meet, otherwise we use our 2024 1st & 2025.

This is from Footywire which isn't 100% accurate. Zero hanger also reporting 2022. Anyone got the deets?
Can't find it but I swear it was just randomly at the bottom of one of the articles when he was traded to us last year

It's possible that his 1 year contract was smoothed over 2 years but I swear I read 3 years somewhere

That is literally a completely normal list profile for this stage of the season

Logue's an interesting one. On the fringes so Freo's offer will be 400k-ish?? If a rival club desperate for a key back offers 700k he has to look at it.

We would have the money earmarked for Cerra + potentially the money put aside for Lobb and Logue to really shape our list moving forward.
