I hope we can convert some of these trades into multiple 2nd-4th round draft picks. The core young talent is there, we now need to purchase a few lottery tickets and speculate on some players – not just 18 year old kids, but also some mature agers. We know this team will be successful, but it will probably require a bit of gambling to build a dynasty team.

It’s not, Henry ain’t going anywhere

I respect your opinion on trades because your good at being unbiased, you think it will be 11, a future 1st and more in Melbournes favour potentially? That’s egregiously too much IMO? I’d want a second back if we are trading 11 and a future 1st, way too much risk
Is this one just Ralph doing a pile on? What a campaigner.

I'm surprised Hagdorn hasn't reported that Fyfe or Andy wants out yet. Easy clicks and its not like there is accountability.

I didn’t just reply to his comment based on finishing 5th. We were one win away from 2nd spot. To me that suggests we were every chance.

Hell, we were 1 Carlton point off finishing 4th.

Wasn’t like we scraped into finals or luckily filled 5th spot.

We have 100% shown we can mix it and even beat some big teams away.

Brisbane finished 6th. Are they too far?
Okay, I comprehend what you're saying. The losses I rue the most are the match against Gold Coast and the calamity that was the match I attended against St Kilda in Round Two. Win those two, and the Top Four was a non-negotiable!

I respect your opinions, but I disagree with your take here. Our finishing position meant it was just a bridge too far...
The ‘we weren’t any chance this year anyway’ type comments can go EAD.

It’s a bloody soft comment to deflect from what was a shit show last night.

We had as much right as any team still remaining. We fluffed it.

For me it’s Pick 11 and a future first and that’s it.

I’m not getting overly disappointed however if downgrading say pick 28 (Carlton’s second) or pick 29 (WB’s second) to pick 32 (Melbourne’s second) is what ends up sealing the deal.

Any more than that puts the trade in Jeremy Cameron territory which quite frankly I’d be walking away and seeing if Melbourne are prepared to lose Jackson for nothing. We could walk him into the National Draft rather than PSD and I’m not sure any club has the balls to take him before pick 11. If we got him still we’d get him for less, Melbourne would receive nothing - their call.

For me it was the Swans game at home as they literally would then take our spot. They adjusted brilliantly and unfortunately we didn’t adjust to their adjustment. We only just lost.

I also think Swans are fave for the flag.

With his performance this year, I need something back with two firsts, that pick next year could still be top 10. If our first this year was 16 or 17 then sure, but if we are trading up to 11 then that’s a lot more value.

Opening offer of a first and second, closing offer of two first with something decent coming back. If I’m honest I’d like Bell to try very hard to keep our first round pick for next year. Opens up a lot more options

Was Schulz playing more in the wing last night? Seemed bit more up the ground. How would Schultz go on the wing? Seems have good tank.. Knows he tackles and gives it his all

So when do the trade requests actually happen? Monday?

Can't wait to see the back of Logue and Lobb. Useless overrated campaigners.

They could be quite a lot of news if Peel also lose today.

I don’t think we’ll hear anything from Meek or Tucker until their season is done.

Also with Melbourne’s season over I don’t expect Jackson to wait too long either. Don’t think our other targets really come out until a bit later tbh. They’ve mentioned Corbett but I look at GC’s out of contract players and there isn’t many - after last year’s Brodie debacle Gold Coast might think it’s better to let Corbett walk as a DFA.

May just need a change.

Hogan was let go for a packet of chips and has had a good/ great year.

I’m not suggesting TT will be let go, nor would I actively be asking questions BUT if Logue chooses North then I’d be asking massive questions because at some stage picks just stack up and lose value.

Also depends if we lose Acres, Tucker etc. TT is easily the best replacement for those guys.

If the deal was Logue for 19 OR Logue for TT + an upgrade or token 3rd, I’m going with TT trade. The kid is genuine gun and if can get in happy place could be a genuine star.
Really agree with this. I know trading in players can be risky, but we've spent 6 solid years rebuilding with good strong quality picks (and picked well). But if we continuously hit the draft only we need to develop those players further and it could see us stagnate or be where we are now; never progressing....saying that I'm not suggesting trade in any old willy-nilly, but I think we need ready-made players with upside or enough talent to immediately impact or make a difference. I like your TT suggestion, dont know enough about him and his 'character' to have an opinion, but if some of these suggested players want out, let them out...we can't afford to get too sentimental, it's a ruthless business and industry and we have clearly jumped the queue in terms of where we were at pre-JL, overall I think there's a lot of quality on the list even with potentially 5 or 6 people leaving - but if we want to go that next step we need to get bold and get some impact players in. Also agree with the poster I think eastfreo75 about looking for x factor players to make things happen forward of centre. Our forward line entries and abilities once it's in there are still our biggest weakness and we need a much stronger mix and a much more potent mix going forwards, especially if we want to win the big dance (multiple times, preferably..)

I feel like he finds himself pretty far up the ground quite a bit.

One of the few that can hold his head up after last night. Really great performance by him. But we definitely need him in the forward line.

We had zero chance of winning the flag this year. The side that ran out games/ age profile wise was so far off the other finalists it's not funny but as usual we are getting the wrist slitting analysis after a loss.
We are stacked and going places.
We stacked and going places is true.

I felt we could have beaten any of the top teams, in fact we did that.

That doesn’t mean we can’t see that the game style and list management can’t be improve.

This group has a large flag window.

You've certainly turned on those two Mr Tenz lol
I've hated Lobb for years. Overpaid, overrated and just a soft campaigner.

Up until this season this guy has been very average for us and then he wants to request a trade back to GWS because he thinks they're closer to a premiership then we are? Yeah, f*ck off Lobb.

He gets credit for being good (not even a great season, just good, he's not a superstar) this year... But can he back it up next year? Very doubtful, time to ship him off. We'll be right without him.

It's all just different coping mechanisms. Some people prefer to cope by contextualising this loss as part of the grand plan to win a flag in 2029 or whatever. Good for them.

This is not his reasoning - it's simply because his partner has secured a job over east.

Yeah I heard of that last year. She's got a job in Victoria, no? So why was he trying to move to NSW?

I think we were only a chance to win the flag this year technically, in the same way Brisbane have been for the past few years. Not impossible but unlikely.
Needed to finish top 4. Would've had a decent shot at beating Geelong in the qualifying final, imo. Then a home prelim.

F*ck Carlton for choking 2 close games in a row.
