Time to chuck out some trade scenarios I reckon.

Trade 1:
Acres to Carlton
Out: Acres, f4
In: 28, f3

Draft hand: 13(ours), 28 (Carlton),72 (ours), f1, f2, f3 (ours), f3 (Carlton)

Trade 2:
Logue to Norf
Out: Logue, f3
In: 19 (assuming they get a PP), f3

Draft hand: 13(ours), 19 (North) 28 (Carlton),72 (ours), f1, f2, f3 (North), f3 (Carlton)

Cumulative:
Out: Acres, Logue, (end) f3, f4
In: 19, 28, (start) f3, (mid) f3

Trade 3:
Lobb to WB
Out: Lobb,19
In: 11,37

Cumulative draft hand:
11 (WB) 13 (ours), 28 (Carlton), 37 (WB),72 (ours), f3 (Carlton), f3 (North)

Out (so far): Acres, Logue, Lobb, f3, f4
In: 11,28,37,f3,f3

Trade 4:
Out: 11,13
In: Jackson, 32

Cumulative Draft hand:
2022: 28 (Carlton), 32 (Melb), 37 (WB) 72 (ours)
2023: R1, R2, R3(early), R3(mid)

So we have 3 x 2nd round picks + a 4th and Jackson, and a better-than-full-hand next year.

No Acres, Logue, Lobb

Essentially turned pick 13 and those 3 players into Jackson and 3 x 2nd rounders.

Are we starting the car, or do I need a clip around the ear?
I think your like me IP that we do trades that are generally slightly in our favour enough that they are plausible but all up, too much in our favour.

19 for Logue likely doesn’t us getting anything back, Acres for 28 might need a future swap in Carlton’s favour, not ours and while I think Lobb one is possible because contracted, it’s probs the tippy top we can get. Spot on with Jackson IMO since I’m uncomfortable with that price but not disgusted

I must be bad at this list management thingy. I thought the idea was if you are getting close to a flag you trade in to improve your list, and if you aren't going to win a flag and need to rebuild you trade out for a bunch of picks.
I guess I am wrong again.

Love your work IP. Although I’d pose the question why we need to give up two first rounders for Jackson now? Compare with the Cerra trade scenario last year, he wanted out, we wanted a return, he eventually nominated Carnton, we lost leverage, we only got one first rounder. Not sure Jackson should be different.

Big difference Pick 6 vs Pick 13

Gold Coast have just delisted four rookies. Is that an indication that their rookie list is being cut back to league standard or at least on the way to league standard?

They’ll need to cut back significantly to use their three selections and also trim their list. There could be some potential there to get one or two players on the cheap.

This takes me right back to when I used to piss the old man off as a kid haha.

This feels like the first I've heard it used again in 30 years since though!

Well we're interested in Corbett and Sharp so makes sense

No afl wont do another cut to the list since they just did it 2 years ago

Finally, something interesting from us

Fremantle say they intend to keep tall forward Rory Lobb, who is likely to seek a trade to the Bulldogs, if tall utility Griffin Logue leaves the club.

Industry sources said that the Dockers have made known that if Logue leaves to take up an offer with another club, then they would hold Lobb to his contract. Lobb is contracted for one season only and has long been linked with a move to the Western Bulldogs, the ex-Giant also having recently bought a home in Melbourne.

Logue has been offered a four-year deal, estimated at slightly under $500,000 per season, but would earn more if he took up an offer with another club in Melbourne. The Kangaroos are among the Melbourne clubs to have expressed interest in Logue, whose flexibility - more known as a tall defender, he can also play forward - is among his attractions.

Another Docker, wingman Blake Acres, is expected to be traded to Carlton in what will likely be the Blues’ only significant aquisition during the trade period, while the Dockers try to bring in Luke Jackson from Melbourne and potentially Jeremy Sharp from the Gold Coast Suns. Jackson informed Melbourne of his wish to be traded to either Fremantle or West Coast on Tuesday, as The Age forecast.

Dockers ruckman Lloyd Meek, subject to trade speculation due to the potential arrival of Jackson, is under contract for next year.

None of the relevant Dockers have yet told the club that they wish to be traded, with their futures expected to be clarified in exit interviews this week.

Should Acres be traded to Carlton, as expected, the draft pick that the Dockers gain could help them acquire Sharp, or improve their draft position should Jackson choose Fremantle over West Coast.

Melbourne, which has met with Collingwood’s All-Australian ruckman Brodie Grundy, would open up room to pay for much of Grundy’s five-year contract if they lost Jackson, with the Magpies expected to a pay some portion of the contract should Grundy agree to be traded.

Logue, at 24-years-of-age and 194 centimetres, can play as a genuine key defender, depending on the opponent, but has effectively been Fremantle’s third key back behind Alex Pearce and the 195-cm Brennan Cox, hence the Dockers’ willingness to throw Logue forward.

Lobb, 29, was open to a trade to Greater Western Sydney, his original AFL club, during last year’s trade period. Lobb is on a substantial contract for next year, but as with most players who have a short deal, his next club could extend and flatten out his contract.

Kinda need to do both or risk ending up in 'Crazy Vossy' situation where you blow up the flag tilt by severely unbalancing the list and pissing off established cultural keystones by lumping huge sums onto "the missing piece".

Or, worse still, end up as St. Kilda and end up topping up a B grade list with B grade talents off the back of their one or two A grade seasons they’ll ever have in the hopes that they're the missing pieces.
