It’s not as extreme as you are thinking.
Every list turns over 7 or 8 players each year. Meek, Tucker, even acres until this year are just fringe players.
You should try being a GWS fan!
Depends on the situation of Turng over those 7 or 8 players each season.

A minimum of 3 draft picks have to be used in the national draft.

Still remember Freo copped a lot of criticism for only cutting 3 players in the main squad back in 2005. Freo finished 10th in 2005 and missed out on finals because we lost to port in round 22. The week before was the win over the saints. Yep that famous set shot goal after the siren Justin Longmuir kicked.

That was the draft of getting Ibbotson, drum and Warnock.

You're a walking encyclopedia of random and long-forgotten Fremantle Dockers statistics and particulars - I love it! Haha

Yeah I want to know what Sharp is like. His stats aren't flattering.

We’ve watched him closely since he started. He has definite AFL talent and weapons, but does fluctuate performances. Thought Dew had been a little hard on him at times by dropping him, but sticking with others. He loves it on the GC and has close family here. Would be surprised if he left for that reason. Plus Suns traded up to get him, I feel like they’ve been giving him some tough love to make him a better player long term.

I for one absolutely love this stance from the club, its basically calling Young's childish mind games out.

It's all HYPOTHETICAL of course but worst-case scenario Logue leaves and we still have a key forward in Lobb playing the best footy of his career at full forward at all times with Amiss beside him (hopefully) for a full season. Jackson is coming imo and he would be used as a relief ruck instead of Lobb.

Would it be so horrible to force Lobb to fulfill his contract regardless? Lobb, Jackson, and Amiss with Frederick, Walters, and Shultz at their feet, all of a sudden our forward line looks dangerous.

Amiss Lobb Shultz
Walters Jackson Frederick

I'd be interested in a gold coast position on this but surely they'd have far more problem with teams that pillage their required stars than get lucky with their depth.

I don’t believe there’s any bad blood re: the Brodie deal. He needed to play 1’s and we needed his salary of the books. They were happy he went well. I actually think they’d happily send Corbett that way for next to nothing. Not a big salary, but he deserves a crack and won’t get it at Suns.

Rock-hard at the prospect of us not giving Lobb up just because he's requested a trade. I actually like the guy, and respect that living away from his partner wouldn't be easy, but also he did sign a front-loaded contract. And we're just about in a window. Love the stance. All about it.

Logue I still for the life of me just cannot see him leaving... I dunno. Gut feel is a poisoned chalice but it just seems weird.

If our recruiters are red-hot on bringing Sharp in, then I'm going to back them. I do believe they, and a fair few on here, were very keen on him in his draft year. Could be another nice bargain.

Jackson... I'm honestly ambivalent. Bring him in, or let him walk to West Coast. Same as Sharp, the club has made pretty sound decisions since Hogan and if they think Jackson is worth it then I fully back them in.

Because Erasmus will play Acres role.
You could do that.

I don't mind rotating players. If 2 blokes are playing on the same wing, let Erasmus play 10-12 games next season while Coyler plays 10-12 games as well.

Freo rotated the smalls in the forwards 50 with Switkowski, Walters , Frederick and Schulz

If you believe Duffield, in his duff and quarters pod, he believes Freos offer to Acres is all performance based, where Carlton’s is guaranteed $

So acres can work hard for us and possibly earn more than at Carlton if he plays like he is, or he can go and earn guaranteed $.

If true, half expect Acres to go the way of Brad Hill.

If that is true, then shame on Acres.

A lot of players have great years in their last of their contracts.

I’m hearing that he already is with belly. Belly isn’t playing his game and he’s not enjoying it. Hence the leaks of disharmony at the club.
You really know how to make the board happy

My take he was offered a 2 year contract on low money because of the developing youth. He wants 3 years on decent money.

Plus I do it think Jackson maybe playing wing.

Yes I think he is gone.
Duff is spot on. We promised acres more money if he continues to play well. Just prefers the easy money from Carlton. I love what we’ve done personally.

Thats all well and good but if we simply stop playing Acres because Henry/Johnson/Worner etc comes on and shows the future then Acres gets shafted on a performance based contract.

Only have to look at Conca V Walker and see that we will be ruthless

I'm not going to get upset at Acres if thats the case, its fair enough that he needs to look out for himself

That is my understanding.

Guaranteed money is safe, but backing yourself to make more is what would drive you to be a champion.

A lot less work just getting paid though

I wouldn't call it easy money, its pure security which is the biggest thing in football for a fringe player

It's the right call by the club but also the right call by Acres, there are no guarantees in footy and we have talent in the seconds that could leap him at any point.

Doesn’t seem to trust his body and is making the safe move to the Blues.

I really like the performance based contract offer to Acres.

If a player is scared of performance, then it’s not great long term.

Most people go for the soft option of guaranteed money including myself. It’s safe.

Go getters tend enjoy risk and let’s face it are winners in life.

Seems like Acres have done what most people would do.
