List Mgmt. 2022 Mid-Season Draft

Would we be looking at a ruck here?

Be in massive trouble if Hayes goes down.

Dante/Charlie probably both better options for this season as a Ruck than anything else available. Lycett back before too long anyway.
Dante getting a little game time I think would be a good thing at any rate. Just a taste at the level to give him something to think about during the pre-season.

A high-flying prospect from New South Wales capable of playing at both ends of the ground shapes as a certain selection in next week’s AFL mid-season draft.
Jacob Bauer went undrafted last year out of the Swans’ Academy but has piqued the interest of at least six AFL clubs with a blistering start to the SANFL season for North Adelaide.

Yea he seems to good to have missed out last year. Is it that he is now getting a run at it? Beating up on younger kids as an overager and more developed player? Has worked on his deficiencies? Growth spurt over summer?

The talls I can understand as they can take time.

Seems Kantilla interest has dried up.

Derksen seems a good prospect.

What’s Carmichael got going for him?why is he suddenly on the radar? For those who watch a lot of SANFL, what’s he like?

The Advertiser says we are looking to go tall and has us looking at...

KPD

Sam Durdin - Glenelg
Jack Maibaum - Coburg

Ruck

Bryan Teakle - East Fremantle

Maibaum's highlights look good. Reminds me of Jeremy McGovern. Did his ACL at Sydney.

I'd go for Oskar Faulkhead on the condition it's pronounced with a silent 'L'.

Brynn Teakle would be an extra in a 1970s Underbelly series

I still think we need a ruck way more than we need a KPD. I'd rather be stuck playing 24 year old 99kg Sam Skinner than 19 year old 88kg Dante Visentini, even if Sam is a bit of a spud.

I hope we target the best available young player, irrespective of position. With Covid destroying the last 2 TAC Cup seasons, there are bound to be gems that didn’t get a chance to show their stuff. Last year’s MSD generally didn’t fix this anomaly as the Victorian season was still compromised. Now, everyone who didn’t get drafted because of Covid has had a fair run at it.

There won’t be a MSD like this again. There are players out there that may have been Second Round draft picks in 2020 or 2021, but for Covid. The ceiling on some will be high. Never again will the Young Guns (who really should’ve been called the “Overlookeds”) beat both VM and VC - with the best players from their age group against the slightly older also rans.

We could get a very good player- there is no excuse for getting a list clogger.

Why not put Sinn on ice and have 2 picks on player's who might develop into AFL players ? What's the negative in doing so money?
Outside of maybe the top few, it’s like having an extra 2nd round pick in the rookie draft. Very little chance we find 1 good player let alone 2.

If Sinn and Lycett are a chance to play again this year then no way would it be worth it.

Might be right but worth the risk in my opinion.
We are not winning anything this yr so pick the 2 best 19 yr olds available not stop gap players for this yr would be a waste of time.

I'm with you. I think we can cover a key defender and I know we are light up for a ruckman, but if we can get a quality player regardless of position then grab them.

Can we have Durdin and Skinner on the list at the same time though?
No.
Reckon Sam gets cut at season's end anyway.
Surman could be a KPF/KPD/pinch hitting ruck option. Been playing quite well this season.
Durdin and Brand a fraction old imho.
Ballenden got torched big time by O'Brien last weekend.
Brynn Teakle sounds intruiging - 203cm, 97kg, 22yo, trained with Essendon pre season.

The Tiser article may be offbeam - perhaps the club leaked wrong info to put other clubs off the scent of what we really want. Although I wonder whether we are devious and cunning enough strategists to think that way?

Perhaps we are thinking of someone younger and shorter in stature eg. Bauer, Menzie, etc?

You end up with list cloggers. Just like mcintee.

How many mid season drafts have we had now? 2? 3?

How many top 10 on list players have come from it in they time? How many top 15?

Can you name them off the top of your head?

You’ve got a very low chance of finding a quality player, and nearly a certain chance of picking up a list clogger.

I was keen when we had a very early pick, as I reckon you probably need to be picking at the pointy end… now , meh.

Not the ones on a 6mth contract but I get it's a very low strike rate but you should at least have a swing or 2 lol.

how’s mcintees 6month contract going?
That's our list management using the MSD incorrectly, for bog average players in positions well covered, rather than a potential missed gem or long term project player. Whilst Ken and his 'yep, what I really need is another small mid I can then play as a small forward at AFL, despite no real experience there' picks, has me wanting to skip this years, unless something really good comes up, in general it's an ok place to grab a player.
