Those rules are still very clear, Dave, and we don't have a list spot available. Last year we left two spots open so we could pick up players: AFL confirms rookie rules for SSP, Mid-Season DraftWith Dean getting a Setback so won't be back until Rd 14 at the Very Earlist might open up a Pick for us

Yes - we now have a pick should we wish to use itWith the Bad News that Kreuger needs Surgery and most likely Done for the Season that Give us 1 Pick so Far

Any 22-26 yo key forwards that have made a good start to season in state leagues?
I doubt we will find any KPF hiding in the 2’s. I think serviceable inside mids or defenders are more likely. We are not having much luck between dean, aj and kreuger…
Doubt we go Tall Defender so either be a Inside Mid or a Forward[/has to be both forward & Defender

I don't think we will find any decent kpf in the 2nd tier but I reckon there would be a few strong inside mids that would be worth looking at. Key area for us at the moment, I think we can shuffle some of our other pieces around, but are thin in the middle
Bad news about Kreugs. If we decide to utilise the spot, are we going a mature ager as a direct replacement, or bank a longer term option who is younger and from any position on field?
No point taking a mid in the MSD… we’ve got a bunch already developing in McInness, Macrae, Murley, Harrison (potentially), and the Brown boys… both of whom likely not to make it but are at least improved players at VFL level this year
Plus N Daicos will be a permanent mid soon enough
Take a mature age KPP who can add to our woeful KPP depth
Doesn’t have to be a KPF…
just somebody who we can plug and play down back which allows Moore to switch forward so we’re not so reliant on Cox/Cameron as forwards
If that’s not Fly’s preference…
then a young mid sized intercepting defender is also an area of need
i think its pretty clear we are a mid or two down in rotations through the mid field, aside from the fact that Pendles and Sidey are much closer to the end than we might like. Our key forward cupboard is so bare with injuries to AJ and now NK and the fact our 2 candidates as KPF's are playing back in the VFL in the short term we need JDG to spend time forward and we simply couldnt do it today.I disagree about mids. We really lack AFL relevant depth. The young guys are still developing and aren't ready yet. I'd consider an inside mid if the right player was available.
I think we'll be drafting for the future and not the present. For the future, in terms of the balance of our kids, we need a top line inside mid and KPPs. We've got a fair few who project to being OK mids but the inside doesn't look strong - and I doubt we'll find a top line insider in this draft. KPPs at this stage are always dicey too. Our list needs are the ones that usually go top 20 in the national draft. Ultimately, I'd just pick the bloke they rate highest - regardless of position.I disagree about mids.
