Really quiet game from Menzie with only 1.1 from 8 disposals.

Mitch O’Neil keeps finding the footy though with 38 disposals. He must be attracting some interest given his form.

Any Kpf in the draft

Tyler Kietel from the WAFL gets talked up every year and is alway's amongst the best at state level. Matthew Hammelmann had a good season in the VFL last year for Aspley. Back in the QFL now that Aspley has dropped out of the VFL though.

Any Kpf in the draft
At this stage we don't have a pick, and unless someone gets a season-ending injury (or retires) we won't be picking up anyone. We were able to have two picks last year because we left a couple of rookie list spots empty after the Rookie Draft at the end of 2020.

But why are they NOT getting pick for then?

All sorts of reasons. A player may be a late developer. There may be bias because a player is a mature ager. Or they have some perceived weakness. We know there have been some absolute guns picked up from state leagues. If your recruiters get it right there is real potential to improve the list.

Can we pick up Sutherland as a category B rookie?

Will Sutherland

I'm pretty sure you can nominate a Category B rookie whenever. You don't need to wait for a draft period. So if we can convince Sutherland to come over he's ours. Though I think we'd need to wait for a formal list lodgement period to add him to the list. We've apparently approached him though not sure if he's interested. I think he'd earn more in the AFL than cricket which may be an incentive.

Cat B Rookie might be allowed to play VFL this season

You don't know that. He could well leave Cricket. There's likely more money in the AFL for him.
Doesn’t mean much, but his bowling looks to be improving and he looks on the verge of a breakout season of cricket.

With Green coming on and Sutherland’s batting not shaping as top 6 it seems he’s going to need to development into a front line quick.

Yeah he could have a good domestic cricket career. I'm not sure he is likely to be a fixture in internationals or the kind of guy who will be good enough for IPL. That's where the money is. We'll see what happens. There's nothing saying he's unhappy with Cricket but I still reckon he's more likely to make money in football which has to have some pull.

He should have a few years considering how cheap he'll be
I agree, Keath switched from cricket to footy as late as 24, I think. And it's been very successful - so a couple of years at least and clubs will still be willing to sign him.
