Well, at a glance, the Dutch should beat the USA, but it will be tight. I think we'll beat Senegal 2-0 or 2-1. France to beat Poland, probably reasonably comfortably, and sorry Aussies, but Argentina will win.

I think Japan will stun Croatia, but South Korea won't overcome Brazil, Spain will beat Morocco, and Portugal should have enough to see off Switzerland.

From that path. Argentina/Brazil vs Spain/France/England Final. I can’t really see many shocks from here on out.
Argentina won’t be making it past the Round of 16 sooooo might wanna rethink that one.

I forgot that we have Harry Souttar. The Argentine forwards won’t even come out for the second half.

If we're not all up at sparrow's fart to watch this game.. then I dunno man. Rare as hen's teeth mate.

Get the win.. scorcher of a day.. get in the speedos.. chocker block an eski full of cherries and vodka cruisers mate.. spend the rest of the day chillaxing at beach mate.. make the most of it mate.. that's it mate.

Rare as hens teeth? Pffft. Pencil is in for the 2026 knockouts

Clear and obvious error applies to offside also.

The protocol for offside is that for subjective decisions such as player interference an on-field review is appropriate. For factual decisions including positions of players for offside, and ball out of play, a VAR-only review is usually appropriate. An on-field review can be used for a factual decision if it will help manage the players/match or ‘sell’ the decision (e.g. a crucial match-deciding decision late in the game).

So in this case it was a factual decision. It didn't get referred to an on-field review. Which was fair enough, I don't think the on-field ref could have added any value to the process. But for ball out of play VAR has less clarity of information than offside. Given that the original decision was a goal kick I don't think they had the evidence to show that it was a clear and obvious error.

No it doesn't ffs.

Yes correct. There are no interpretations for in / out. The evidence provided showed the ball as in and thats the end of thr story.

Clear / obvious error overturn relates to subjective decisions.

While it would be good to speed up offside decisions by just using normal speed footage and determining if it is clear and obvious, that is very obviously not what happens.

Just trying to figure out whether to watch it from bed or out somewhere
It's a shit time to watch it out.... If I went out... I would get smashed and sleep in a gutter by 3am and miss it...

Im not setting my alarm at 4 to go drive somewhere (doesn't help I live a bit more then an hour away from suburbia)

Would rather it at 6 than at 3. At least at 6 you can sleep first and get a decent night's sleep.

It’s amazing how severely underrated Switzerland are. Portugal aren’t the young Ronaldo style anymore. Back to Swiss to defend like a brick wall and get one or two. Underdogs.

OK team, i got us here by betting on Peru, Tunisia, and Denmark. I have bet Argentina -1 for the morning so we are guaranteed to stay within 1 goal at least. If we get through, feel free to organise a parade for Harry Souttar and I. Would be very well deserved!

Yes, I've made a point of betting against AUS too.

Long may we lose money!

Jodly any response?

Of course not, he doesn't actually care, couldn't name more than two players, and probably won't even watch the game. But if we lose he'll be in here putting down the team with a backhanded compliment, and if we win he'll be talking about how lucky we were and how it's a shame Messi didn't get a WC.

I tell ya what....if we win, Melbourne is gonna go off tomorrow all ****ing day lol :D
