Watching the Kayo mini, Cottrell's second goal was an absolute beauty. Coming along nicely this guy for a 22 year old winger.
already played 29 games - speed (and stamina) kills.........

Bloody helps when it is the 4th quarter and Cottrell is looking around wondering why everyone else is so exhausted...
Must be nice having an engine like that.
Yeah was thinking the same lol. He just keeps goin and goin and goin and looks fresh still after the game. Always admired blokes like that. I’d be done after the warm up

What a win a great team performance they were actually all playing for each other and celebrating goals and the milestone of Newnes .

We took a quarter to get going and produced a nice little lead by half time by playing a great 2nd quarter and kicking 5 goals again, Freo threw everything at us in the first 10mins of the third but couldn't gain the ascendency we outscored them by a goal and we never looked back from there and went on to a nice 5 goal win.

A great overall game where everyone contributed but oh my Sam Walsh was purely sensational today far and above the best on the ground he has really hit form the last few weeks and is really having a great year since being injured at the start of the year.

Saad,Docherty,Charlie,Hewett,Cripps,JSOS,McKay,Kennedy were all great today but it was the unheralded players of Fisher,TDK,Young,Cottrell,O'Brien,Newnes,Newman,Boyd,Kemp etc that really played above expectations of the masses and some of them actually had their best games for the club.

If the continuing growth in these players keeps us there abouts come finals time look out when we get our full complement of players to choose from the luck of getting some key players back just in time for finals may be the boost we need to have a genuine crack at the flag :praying: :D

Now please back this great win up with the same application you went about it today and beat the Aint's next week by 10 goals.

We're travelling from the West to come watch live and show the family what it's like to watch the Blues in full flight with a noisy home Crowd behind them when they are up and about I can not wait to be there!

GO BLUES!!!
My cousin and his wife coming over from Perth as well for the game.... Long suffering Saints members though. Will be great to catch up, has been a while, will be even more satisfying to see him to the plane sans 4 points! Although he is prob used to it by now!

I’m not getting ahead of myself… well, I am really. But is there a thread around here where I can go and complain about Geelong having a 9-day break prior to playing us, while we come back from Perth and only have a 6-day break?

Apparently Voss has rang the AFL to complain that he & his boys are upset that they can't get stuck into the Cats within 5 days after coming back from Perth :)

Yeah we are. And everyone of them looks like they are loving it
This could be the single most important factor in getting us to top 4 and beyond.

What a win!!

Happy to say I was there to witness our most complete performance of the year.

Boy did we look sharp. Quick. Tough. Quick hands. Hitting targets. Outnumbering at the contest. Overlap running (walsh simply outstanding).

Shout out to three of our lesser lights in Cottrell, LOB and Newnes. Five goals and close to 60 possessions between them was massive. You have to be at the game to appreciate the two-way running of Cottrell and LOB. The speed and stamina of Cottrell is becoming a real weapon for us.

Roll on Friday. Saints won’t lay down so another tough task, but we have to win these type of games.

I’ll be there with bells on..

Voss doesn’t give a flying duck when, where or who we play.He is a no excuse man.He is building a colossus of a team that hasn’t reached its peak yet and the sooner we as supporters get on board and understand that, the sweeter the ride will be.

Hindsight says criticism was absolutely founded. Clubs don't call external auditors in when things are going well. The blind optimism thing is something I won't buy into.

Some may not agree but think ive been fairly objective and honest on where this club has been at, through stages over the last few years.

We appear on the right track now. Despite what many on here were trying to peddle at the time, it didn't "just happen" nor was it "part of the plan". It took a proper wrecking ball to our back of house to get there, and we are all the better for it.
Think we did an awful lot right, even if it hurt like hell at the time.

If that was paid against Carlton 35000 at the game yesterday and couple of hundred thousand watching at home would have gone ballistic.

It’s the intent, when you are 50 metres out from goal under no direct pressure your intent is not to kick over the boundary 40 metres from goal, if you believe that you’ll believe anything

Ridiculous decision
You need to have another look at the rule, and/or have another look at the play.
Fyfe did not have a shot. He clearly pulled the kick to the left, towards the boundary. It very much seems that he thought the boundary umpire was a teammate, and given how much they helped Freo all day, that makes sense.

But kicking the ball directly at the boundary, with no teammate close by, does not demonstrate sufficient intent to keep the football in play.

Ross the Boss seems to have lost the plot imo.
On radio after we lost to Pies I heard him talking that Zac Fisher should be in the reserves. I thought to myself, WTF are you talking about Ross, he played a bad game that day but most of the time he been really good and important link between our engine room and forwards. It was at that point, I thought to myself thank * we got Vossy as coach and not Ross because he mentally has lost his edge if he was that out of touch with how Zac's season at that point.
It just shows a really sharp football mind can kind of go to mush by joining the media shows and stuck in them too long. Also sense he become a bit bitter after being out of the running to coach us when it really lit a fire in him to want the job for a week or so.
Just left me in no doubt we ended up with best person for the coaching job in where we were at in Vossy.

I still respect Ross Lyon knows a lot about football and coaching industry but it looks like he has lost his edge and some of his words now are compromised in why he says what he says at times. I not watched what he said anywhere since hearing those out of touch comments on Zac Fisher I heard on radio.
There probably always going to be an element of bitterness in his perspective on Carlton team now because in reality, he really wanted to coach us and had to be removed from the process. Sorts of compromises his views so will probably not listen to him much about our team but I suspect he be a bit more objective with most clubs he has not emotionally invested for any reason. So I do not know what he said about our team in preview v Freo but I just know he lost the ability to be objective with us 100% ..His comments about Zac showed he is looking at us through a different filter than he normally would. He is human after all. Sometimes a bit of bitterness colours a view.
After the fallout of what went down that led to him not getting our coaching job Lyon is unemployable as a head coach so he is bitter and twisted when he talks about us now to the point where it clouds his thinking of us so I find it best to just ignore any of his commentary about Carlton.
