What about the players? Voss doesn't coach Durdin's bullshit kick inside 50, or Charlie's multiple dud shots on goal does he?

Blaming Voss is the easy way out, we had too many players at too many points this year be too stupid for their pay grade.
I agree we have had a problem with onfield leadership all year.

Think our worst loss was against the Saints. Beat them in every area, but kicked poorly

Still a young squad, we will be better for experiencing this year
Couple of our poorer games this year were two wins in that 8-3 start…

7 goals up against the Hawks to scrape in by a point, and 8 goals up against Port to get home by just 3 points. Flushed away some valuable percentage in those games. Need to be better next year and finish off these games like top teams do and build decent %.

Memo to Vossy and Coaching Staff :
Go along to MCG in a fortnight and watch and learn how Chris Scott and his coaching staff stifle Collingwoods's run out of defence and don't allow ridiculous coast to coast goals ( especially in the dying moments ! ).

Gutted. Flat. Empty. Broken.

Said all year I fear one team and one team only: the Carlton Football Club.

Performances against Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane prove exactly that. A train wreck of a month and one of the biggest chokes you'll see from a sporting club. And we have to own it.

We need to hire the best sports psychologists in the country because the past month can completely break a group. Might be a good idea to offer sessions to our supporter base too.

I’m 50 and was lucky enough, in the first half of my life, to see Carlton experience immeasurable success.
Also experienced the brown paper bags and worst of times and questioned things.
We’re all bruised after the last two weeks but, speaking from my experience, this team has “it” (a third forward/hybrid tall would be mint).
I don’t believe they’re broken. Wounded, yes.
Stay strong bluebaggers.

Please hire a goalkicking coach that specialises in teaching some mental fortitude. The 40 metre plus snap hasn’t worked all year. It is a cop out. It reared its ugly head again today. If Charlie simply kicks a drop punt in the second quarter from 40 out, we are playing finals. So disappointing.
Agree the bull shit “snap around the corner” goal routine has been proven to be a failure in the face of a sudden death pressure cooker atmosphere…
Super impressive from Voss in the post match press conference.
Only a short sample size but based on post match pressers and match day tactics Voss seems to be a better coach than both Bolton and Teague.

A lot of anger on here tonight, and rightly so. But I think it's ill directed. I'm really pissed off.

  • Those 2 outrageous umpiring decisions blocking ones in a space of 1 minute had the biggest influence on the game tonight. Disgraceful. 1st time in 6 years I have commented on umpires. These decisions got them back in the game.
Since half way in the season we have been pushing s**t up hill with injuries. Last time we played these blessed bastards we had Young playing one end & Curnow the other in terms of height. Tonight Hewett who has been massive was missing & Walsh who got 30 Brownlow votes last year also missing. Kennedy has ben massive at times, missing. Players like Marchbank, McGovern, Williams & Martin hardly playing any footy.

Players in and out, in and out, in and out. Midway through the season missing 6 key talls. At the end of the year missing small mids & small defenders.

Saad was playing sore, so was Weitering. Cerra couldn't train during the week.

To say players are mentally weak, coaches don't know what they're doing is bullshit. Injuries caught up to us in the 2nd half of the year & the umps today (yes, we could've kicked straight in the last and done that right in the dying seconds, but we kicked everything in the 3rd)

The Saints game was a missed opportunity, but every team loses a game or 2 through bad kicking.

It's a real shame we didn't win today. We may have had Walsh & Hewett back in 2 weeks and anything from there can happen from there. But the injuries have been too hard to manage in the end. We could've easily been a top 4 team this year.

The boys did us proud the last 2 weeks. We stuffed up the last 2 minutes last week but this week the umps gave us one.
I hear you and agree for the most part...yet despite that catalogue of bad luck the game was still on our boot with a minute or so to play and then we literally served it to them on a platter.... That's what is hard to stomach at the moment.

This list was def finals worthy so a waste.

Why play frenetic inspired footy versus Dees and Pies but not versus a weak Adelaide. That’s on Voss and preparing players. I call it dumb.

Why did Voss say percentage not important early in the season like the fancams guy mentioned. That small factor killed us. The WCE game lost us percentage. So many games we let huge swings evalporate percentage. It’s just a wrong thing to say and Voss needs to learn. The team was happy to just look competitive and missed killer blows. That cost us the percent required.

Those small things hurt us in the end in what was a final perfect storm. It isn’t just the players need to learn but Voss as well. Don’t care about his nice presser. Next year is another year, just ask Port whose injuries to talls derailed all of 2022.

Another way to really understand what we just gave up. Versus Dees and versus Pies we choked and lossed both games where most neutrals had us as the better team on the day. At least Dees if not both are shots for the flag and we were better than both except for panicked 2 mins play. We have given up a flag shot due to 4 minutes panic. Our quality and list were better but we ended up 9 th. That is just crazy.

Watch the replay today and watch Harry McKay face during the middle of the game. It’s a death match but he is smiling and laughing like there is Nothng on the result. He needs to be seething during that time we were losing. Get harder if we want to win ffs.

Everyone played their dumb role at Carlton in 2022 to undermine a sure shot at a flag.
“Harry pulled a face I don’t like, he needs to get hard”.
Ahahaha
****ing pisser, this is satire surely?

Imagine losing a game when you win contested footy by 54. Any team with such a +/- thats a flogging however, Collingwood somehow are happy to lose that. They have the best defence and transition in the competition. Otherwise, they are a bottom 4 side.
Look at the stats in the Dees v Pies game and you’ll see they were very similar and delivered a similar result - ultimately it came down to turnovers and inaccurate goal-kicking - so take some solace into it not just being a Carlton thing…

I am lucky enough to have seen the '95 premiership. I was young, but the GF is the earliest game I can remember clearly.

I feel so sorry for those who are younger than me, who have not seen that success.

The past month broke me. Today was the final nail in the coffin. I'll be back but I don't think I'll ever forget or get over this path month. I will be back though. We all will.

There's a psychological problem at the club and I pray that it doesn't impact them long term. It's a real danger.

Not healthy for anyone. Including the supporter base

Blues have for most of past 20+ yrs left us supporters feeling heart broken, enraged and numb. In equal measure.
For first time in so long this season '22 felt and was different. There was hope and joy and optimism. Until there wasn't. Yet again. A false dawn.

Said to my husband post game, 'Following and loving Carlton is like being in an abusive relationship. You remember how good it was (80's/90's when I was younger). Until it all turned to misery and horse dung. Then the team wins and they suck you back in. Because you want to believe. Desperate after so many yrs of failure. Because you keep faith. You're loyal. For so many of us being a Blue bagger is our family tradition. And family is everything.'

Hello darkness my old friend - probably what many Carlton fans are thinking now. I know I am. I want those players to ache and feel real pain, like we are. To agonise. Regret wasted opportunities. To then regroup, recalibrate and reset. Especially their thinking + ability to perform under pressure. Looking at you H. Moving from 13th to 9th isn't many people's definition of success. Finals IS. Until this team and club deliver that, they're deceiving themselves and us.

Signed, a gutted Blues Mum

Not sure if the coaches ever say it and I doubt Vossy would have mentioned the frees in his presser. But Mcrea did, said we had the rub of the green in the 3rd… FFS.
Thought the game went for four quarters? Must have had his eyes shut for those other three - like the umpires funnily enough

Dumpster fire grade coaching decisions when the pressure is on. Said it last week, had a few muppets come at me, will keep saying it until things change.

You don't cough up a 4 goal lead like that, you just don't. Too aggressive at the start of the term, and then too defensive when they felt a little pressure.
You wanna take the reins? I'm sure I'll trust Voss' plan over us plebs. Let's just be cool and proud of a great year of improvement.

Sits on the coach.

The last 2 months has been a spectacular fail.

A rhesus monkey could have done better.
Who's putting up the 'welcome 'thread'..

Not usually a fan but David King nailed it with his footage of that last Elliot goal.

Curnow had Durdin short and waste 30 seconds, and he kicks long. To a contest we lose.

then Jacob loses Elliot on the way back, no talk, no direction down back.

why we did not have a plus one I never know.

it’s our leaders not our first year players that need to step up…composure, composure, composur.

I think Charlie and Durdin would like their time back again. I rate both highly going forward. It did seem like each was saying, no I’m dumber than you. Then cue the benny hill music.

Both will learn and become serious footballers off the back of this game.

My 13yo was also in tears after the game, hopefully all good now. We spoke about where the club is heading, and the improvement from last year.
We had a similar conversation. And he will be ok in a day or two. He’s stoked that Charlie got the Coleman and wants to know if there’s going to be a presentation that he can watch.

I’m a very nervous watcher so wasn’t watching the game(just couldn’t do it today), just checking score and listening a bit on radio while doing some work outside. The look on my young fellas face after the game hurt me more than the loss. So I think could consoling him and helping him through it helped me as well. He said he’s not going to school tomorrow because of it though haha.

We’ll all be ok Blue Baggers! Hopefully this season spurs and not scars the team. Give it a good shake next year….is it March yet?
