Thought we missed saad's run today. They pretty much ran us off our feet and we had a 10 day break. Maybe a bit too top heavy. unfortunately having TDK was basically playing minus one. Not sure we can keep carrying LOB. Sure he has improved, but we need someone with some presence and ability to win own ball. Not sure he has that. Boyd, wasnt up to it today. Glad we won though.

Everyone from Voss to the boot studder has been really clear that we are still learning the system.

What happened this week was that we came up against a club with a well honed system (albeit some tinkering from the new coach) and some good player development.

Our system will improve. And it was still good enough to have us come out in front. Turn the frown upside down and enjoy!

When we make finals, we're not going to look back on this game and wonder what we could have improved. It's 4 points, just like any other win. Lots to analyse and improve but it's another positive step for the season.

Doc was amazing in that last quarter. He took important intercept marks and as importantly, took the game on right down the middle when we were really struggling to move forward. He played a great game

That was such a weird game, we were so comfortable until the last quarter - but, a win like that brought a lot of excitement.

Everyone around me were all smiling and high-fiving :D it was a great way to leave the MCG!

Don't start me on the umpires!
That was a bloody mark! Hazza took it fair and square. Would have broken the dynamic. Really important moment. Then another couple of bullshit decisions etc etc. (Hi Thy!)

Takes a brave soul to tip Carlton this early in the Knockout.

I salute you, Sir.👍

Nice win against plucky Dawks.
Would have loved some more percentage but wins on board what count most and early work on scoreboard where it was won.
Probably need to work on fitness overall but composure of types like Silvagni and Weitering when things not running our way was very good.
Love Harry mark on wing and Fisher clever handball to Jack for last goal.
Fun times to include Boyd and Young to experience their first game and win for the club.

Wasn't fitness, it was setup and composure, especially that kick prior to hitting inside 50

We played it into their hands with our horrible inside 50 entries and forwards not breaking even in contests. CJ was enormous.

But to be able to get the win 2 weeks in a row against teams that slingshot and score off turnover is pleasing. Ground it out.

We will fare better against teams who try to score from stoppage.

Nice post there muscles.

Voss would be happy with the win. We had four forced changes and newish back line.

Plus, up until now, hawks were undefeated.
You obviously didn't watch the voss interview he was very disappointed that we let them back into the game that my whole point im happy we won but it was disappointing that Mitchell was able to get numbers into our forward 50 and play counter attack footy
Voss will know that and yes it will be better for us long term

Mitchell is bound to be a successful coach. He was a gutsy, talented player. The West Coast players spoke very highly of him when he was an assistant in their 2018 premiership year. And Hawthorn have improved since last year with a young side.

For sure

His moves of playing an extra defender and routing everything through Cj worked well

I don’t think we countered well

But we did absolutely fluff up entry after entry in the third from poor options so we should have been further ahead

I dont care how we won or how we looked after quarter time. In a season, especially early on. Any W you take and move onto the next week.

Yeah sure we weren't perfect, but there's reasons for it this week, plus we aren't a perfect team and will never be.

Proud of my boys to be in front at the end of the game, especially on my birthday 🥳😁

Docherty - such a cool head in that last 10 minutes. Picked them off a tonne, and used it well
Footy smarts right there,Doc knew we had to take time off the clock so slowed it down as much ss he could.
Will take the Win but we were extremely lucky. Really missed Saad's run down back today.
