Why are you (and many others) so quick to jump on Young? He isn't Weitering or Jones, but he provides just as much as OMac does and has youth and a non-broken body on his side.

I would be persisting with him.
He was brought in for a reason but from the little I've seen he is too easily bullied and out-bodied by the opposition. Its not to say he will not improve but at the moment I'm underwhelmed. Kind of reminds me a little bit of a young Michael Sexton, early on I thought he looked terrible. Turned out to be a damn fine player for the baggers. I hope he is.

We just need to play solid, smart contested footy and get the win.
We CANNOT drop this game.
Get Port out of the way and prepare for a tough challenge against Freo.
No doubt hairbun will be back for us.

You couldn't really get a better time to play against Port if they are missing Lycett, Dixon, Aliir and Wines. I think we'll do much better with our marking prowess on a hot, dry day in Melbourne compared to the dew of the Gold Coast.

Want to see 4 quarters like our last quarter against Richmond.

Yes Young looks like he's fairly easily pushed out the way for a big man. McDonald is clearly better at this point. He's no Jones, he could be pushed out of the contest a bit but not to the extent of Young. He also looked a pretty sound kick from what I was seeing.

After unfortunately watching the gc game again I think that game should not apply to this one in terms of who comes in and out. That game should be used as an example of what not to do when playing as the visitors. GC were given so many luxuries in that game. They were allowed to time waste, they were holding after we disposed of the ball, they put people in headlocks and we’re allowed a whole heap of off the ball stuff that they could get away with because of the home ground advantage. What we can take from that game is that we will have that same luxury at the G and if we just make port uncomfortable to play their game by scratching, clawing, hitting them when they get rid of the ball and all the off ball stuff that gc got away with then eventually they will fold. Still have to play our way which is powerful in the contest and overlap on the outside. We do those things then we’ll win by 30+ but if we don’t make them uncomfortable and show them too much respect then it’ll be intense viewing and the game will go either way.

Frederick (Quick, young gun - related to Fremantles Frederick I believe) + potentially whoever he lives with, there's 2-3 other players that live with him.

Apparently Lachie Jones is the one who lives with him...tough young player who has played every game this year.

Paul Bower

My friend once played Bret Thornton in a local footy game, he said something along the lines of "crazy how you got delisted by one of the worst sides in the competition and went on to struggle to get a game in the worst team in the competition, your careers a joke" Thornton laughed, and quickly said something like "If I'm terrible and I played 189 games of AFL, then what does that make you?" Bret went on to break my mates ribs in a marking contest that game :D
Should've told him Bret is missing a t.

Will take Jones missing for them, he’s one I’ve seen who is continually putting his body on the line for them defensively and will be a win for our small/half-forwards if they turn up to play.

Amon, SPP, Boak and Houston are the four who currently have form and will get them ticking. If we come back to our game plan I saw in the first 6 quarters of this season of changing angles and playing through the corridor when needed, I will be confident of 4 pts.

Yeah it's all about which Carlton shows up.

I've watched some of Port's games this year and their midfield is winning the ball, but their conversion I50 is horrible...their forwards have really struggled to kick a score without Dixon and Fantasia.

If our defensive pressure is up, we win this game. If we let them cut us up through the midfield and get easy entries I50 then we lose - as we'd lose against anyone playing that way like the GC game.

Wow, after three wins, in the last of which we turned a six goal lead into a one point win, our coaches have to publicly stress the need for humility?

Twenty years of crap and we're ahead of ourselves already?

Mate I'm really not sure who kicks our goals if Marshall doesn't. There's a joke going around Alberton at the minute - what's the difference between Port Adelaide and Liverpool? The Reds score more goals.

Decent changes.

Reckon Martin and Fish have been given a rocket.

Happy to see where parks is at after good twos form.

Reckon Setters, lob, Williams and Dow the bench with Newnes sub. Huge amount of run there. Fairly small power team due to injuries can be covered by the starting 18 for height.

Please let young play ruck for a few mins per qtr, instead of JSOS.
