Had a stack of kids tonight at different stages of their development..

Motlop -handled himself well nice first game, good pressure, well done young fella…

Dekoning - the king has stood up to the plate brilliantly since taking over the 1st ruck, still only 30 games in as a ruckman… killed it..

Carroll - really empressive in the clinches, poise awareness and an appetite for the contest…

Kemp - solid game, defended well, flew for a handful of marks that nearly we’re… showed poise, some good work in close with his hands…

Durdin- this kid is becoming a favorite of mine, clever quick tough poised, reads the game beautifully, forward smarts even better further up the ground, creative and beautiful disposal..

Walsh - still a kid, what a gun back to his sublime best tonight, freak…

Cottrell - came on for Williams and played well, had some important touches in the last quarter…

Owies - great pressure again, smart kid, missed a couple of easy chances but played his role really well again…

O’Brien - his best game of the year, great positional awareness good run & linked up well, smart ball use…

Like i have for almost the last decade, After a game, I open up and read the entire Carlton autopsy thread before going to bed.

Comment rarely - read everything.

I have to say the posts are reflective of where we are at at a club - the days of raging over individual and repeated shit efforts are mostly behind us…. We have no passengers - look at the polls - everyone is contributing.

Love being a blue, love feeling these highs with internet strangers I share a passion with.

Oh and Vossy - I know there is a queue, but I also want to boof you

every time he scythes his way through another team and bangs it long to advantage, all I can think is that we paid too much for him!!!!!
Minor point: * also gave back pick 48 for our pick 8. 48 matched with future 3rd rounder for 31 and 37, which we used to select Durdin and Caroll. So 8 and a future 3rd rounder for Saad, Durdin and Caroll. Yep, I’ll take that.

Well done to the entire team today from coaching staff down to the players that is the best football we have played as a "TEAM" and as even of a performance from a Carlton side we have seen for at least 10 years.

Considering we went into this game under immense pressure with their coach retiring, our growing injury list and never winning before at Giants stadium the boys were absolutely sensational today and worked so hard for each other and that type of win really gels a group and builds great camaraderie that leads to success.

To me it's almost too hard to name the list of best players as I am absolutely over the moon with how everyone contributed to such a great Win.

Docherty,Walsh,JSOS,Kennedy,Fisher,Cripps,Hewett,Cerra,O'brien,Weitering,Durdin I could go on and on everybody contributed or did something worthy of praise today so well done to them all on such a hard, even and honest performance.

But..

One man I must apologize for not believing in him is Lachie Plowman well done playing on Toby Greene and nullifying his influence whilst still playing a great game himself he never shirked a contest today, went at 100% disposal efficiency, took intercepts and stopped a lot of their scoring chains.
I hope he can harness the confidence from that type of performance and continue with that form for the rest of the year and beyond.

What a great feeling it is watching Carlton play a team first, hard contested, aggressive, never give in, high scoring type of football whilst all the negative factors accrued against us yet we still came out and earnt our own aptly titled "Brave" win.

GO BLUES!

Now then, Baggers...

There's something to this team. A few pieces still required, but we are well on our way.

Said I'd be very happy with 7-4 at the halfway point...turns out we're a red hot chance for 9-2, and I'd be shattered if we go worse than 8-3.

In the words of the great Jürgen Norbet Klopp...BOOM.

About

love the look on Durdins face

Lots of love for LOB. Great long range goal and what a great response. Confidence will rid him of a lot of his errors and we'll have a real weapon

Was anybody else like me and had NFI that he had such a long roost in him? I’ve never seen him kick it beyond 40m…

He’s one who seems to constantly be criticised on here. He’s 22 & still learning. Not all midfielders are a Patty Cripps or a Sam Walsh and can step in to the AFL and perform right away. Some take time and this kid is getting there. I like what I’m seeing and think he’ll be a polished mid in a couple of years.

Very happy with the how the forward line went without Harry. Taylor is an absolute star and had Curnow’s measure but we still managed to score over 100 points. I think we also took as many marks inside 50 as we normally do with Harry (and Martin). Hopefully we become a smarter side with our deliveries over the next 6 weeks without McKay.

I reckon Harry will be back for the Drug Cheats' game.

Indeed, this is the AFL, you need to do more than tackle to maintain your spot as a small forward, particularly in a top 4 team...

He’s played 23 games of AFL footy. The equivalent of a little more than 1 season. The goals will come.

You can’t teach effort, however. The bloke gives 110% every week. Has earned his spot in my view.

Another wonderful game from Fisher, he’s winning some really important touches in different areas of the ground, having an impact with our connection in general play/going forward and also getting on the end of a few goals himself…
Very clever little player, starting to find his niche consistently…

Amazing win for the club on so many levels.
As someone mentioned though, the injury list is a massive concern (as it has basically been every year for the past 5 at least).
Why is it that our injury list is always one of (if not the) longest in the competition?
And is there another team that has so many of its best 22 injured consistently?
Mcgovern, Mckay, Young, Martin, Mcdonald, Williams etc etc what is up with that?
And why are they always such long term injuries?

Young is covid protocol...
Harry has had a minor knee arthroscopy...no big deal. Big man, fast, strong, lot of load through those joints.
McDonald - pre existing injury? (in hindsight a bad selection - though he can play)
Brackets - seldom in good nick, cursed.
Williams - a bit of Brackets....

It was mentioned on First crack, that this was only our 3rd win in NSW since 1995, a nice little monkey to get off the back.

Its such a pleasure when you see young players finding their way in the game, have a break out performance, Durdin today was fantastic.

In Harry’s absence Charlie struggled, but it wasn’t through a lack of trying and in the last, his hard work paid off, Taylor is a fantastic player, would love him at the Blues.

Cripps and SOS were great today.

I can’t remember being this excited about our prospects for a season, the next 4-6 weeks will be a struggle, but winning on the road and winning without key players will build the resilience of this group.

Go Blues

Taylor was rarely 1 on 1 with Chuck.

When he was, he was serially arm chopping but the umps let it go time and time again.

I like Taylor, but he got away with murder.

As others have said, that was exactly the sort of game we would have lost going back many seasons. On that basis alone it was the most enjoyable win from my perspective for a long time.

There are tougher challenges ahead (let’s not forget GWS has only won 2 for the season) and the boys are going to need to get better at not letting sides they’re on top of get back into the game - the better sides in the comp will take those chances to the bank. But you can see a winning mindset is growing amongst the group and it’s going to be a good few years ahead at CFC.

We have a really challenging run. Bad luck sees us play Freo and Tiggers twice...Hungry pies twice... Lions...and Dees with West Coast far enough down track to get players back?
I am not confident of staying in Top 4. Not at all. But yeah..should hold on to Top 8. We have to now.
Players back? And then integrating them into team like Guv and Omac?
Marchy?
Martin and Stocker and of course Hazza ...could mean a nice surprise finish for us but atm...one nervous week at a time for me.
💙

Anatomy Dept at Melbourne University are investigating as we speak how Charlie’s hands are attached to his body.
