Hawthorn selects Jed Hagan with pick 40.

Hagan didn't test at the draft combine but his athletic prowess is already well documented. The Geraldton 2021 Athlete of the Year is blessed with elite endurance and strength through the core that has always allowed him to compete well above his weight. Cracked the East Fremantle colts side as a 15 year old and has played senior football in the WAFL this year. Hagan has been prolific in the midfield for his EF colts sides but has gone forward and back in other teams. A member of the 2022 AFL academy squad Hagan performed very well against the Collingwood VFL side and his stat sheet placed him hot on the heels of the more fancied draft hopefuls. Hagans SC score in that match (97) was only headed by Wardlaw (126), Jhye Clark (110) and Will Ashcroft (109).

Named as a back pocket in the 2022 U18 All Australian Team. Averaged 17 disposals going at 75% efficiency and 4 tackles in the Championships.

With his capacity to play a range of different roles, Hagan is likely to have appeal to clubs as someone who can come in and do his job. He played eight games in East Fremantle's league side this year and averaged 13 disposals and a goal, and has also played defensive roles. Hard to tell what the Suns want from list management. Surely they could have negotiated a better Bowes trade, so that tells me the draft is not a huge priority for them this year.

Not much exposure to go by , but if Shadeau Brain can become consistent he has massive upside, and he's been in Noosa the last couple of years ( previously from NSW ) so it might avoid some of the go home factor that's been plaguing the Suns.

A medium forward with a mercurial ability to win the ball both in the air and at ground level. He relocated to Queensland two years ago from New South Wales town Finley, so doesn’t qualify for the Lions as an Academy player and therefore is in the Draft pool. An Indigenous talent, he showed a touch of class in three matches for the Allies, averaging 13 disposals and kicking three goals. He was among the best players in the game against Victoria Metro. Did not test at the Draft Combine as he was recovering from a shoulder injury.

Mature aged tall defender and intercept marking machine. Also handy one on one. Apart from an undersized Wilkie we do not have a real good one vs one defender. Phillips to take over from Doogs in time and free up Wilkie to do what he does best and intercept down back.

the Hawks may find themselves in need of an extra grunt midfielder to provide support for Josh Ward, and Adam will be invaluable in that scenario averaging 24 disposals at 60% contested rate and nearly 8 clearances a game to boot. D’Aloia was named South Australia’s MVP at the Under 18 Championships and won the Team First Player Award for good measure, before also taking out All Australian honours.

One of the strongest runners in the 2022 Gillbee pushed Oliver Hollands all the way to the finish line in the 2km time trial. His height and reach makes him an aerial threat when played on the wing, and his running power allows him to fall back in defence and intercept mark, and create running rebound. A tidy kick of the football as well, if he can improve his contested work he is fully equipped to have a long career in the AFL.

His endurance is high-level, with the 18-year-old running around the six-minute mark over 2km and using it on-field to offer value in a range of roles. The most obvious fit for him is on a wing, but Gillbee is also an apt intercept/rebound asset off half-back, and a third tall or high half-forward in the attacking half. Forward or back, small or tall, or on the wing, Gillbee has plenty of AFL traits to work with. His high-level running and tendency to go by foot suits the flow of modern-day football at the top level, and makes him an intriguing draft prospect. His value comes in his versatility and adaptability, something which the Pioneers will surely sell to clubs who hover aroundthe second-to-third rounds of the draft.

Standing 197cm and tipping the scales at 100kg Will Edwards looks like a monster, but his draft combine sprint time of 2.876 seconds speaks to his explosive athleticism. His closing pace makes him an effective one on one defender and also has experience in the ruck.

Will Edwards, rose into draft contention as an over-ager this year. The New South Welshman is tied to the Swans Academy and represented them over the last two seasons, earning Allies selection in the process. In terms of senior experience, he managed four VFL appearances in Sydney colours and turned out 10 times for North Shore Bombers in the AFL Sydney Premier Division.

A solidly-built defender who thrives in one-on-one contests, Edwards offers an exciting point of difference in his explosive athleticism. It means that on top of holding his own in jostles, he has the potential to use his speed and power in an attacking sense too. His athletic upside was best showcased at the state draft combine, where Edwards notched a rapid 20m sprint time of 2.876 seconds.

Though relatively low in a production sense, Edwards does most of his best work defensively and has also plied his trade in the ruck and up forward. Going forward, he could certainly lift his output with ball in hand and sharpen his footy IQ, but as it stands is a handy late-draft option with plenty of development left in him.

With Cripps over 30 and Rioli moving to Port, West Coast go with Konstanty who many consider the best pressure forward in the draft. His high work rate and tackling should flourish at AFL level where forward pressure is highly valued. Needs to work on his finishing in front of goal but he makes things happen up forward which is something West Coast will love to add to their forward mix.
