It's that time of the year where we're about to hit crazy season on the board.

In order to keep some order around the place, I've locked all threads except the standard ones that we have during the season - refer #5. Will leave the rate my preseason thread going until final lockout.

Any new threads that don't fit in to the standard structure will likely end up merged with either an existing suitable thread, or the General Chat thread as a catch-all.

Good luck to everyone - this is one of the toughest years to pick a starting side that I can remember.

bloke knows how to SC
I'm really torn on this one, love to get the rnd 1 flyer and a 163 as skipper is a great start.

Option a) Leave as planned, back Grundy with the C. 30 green dots.

Option b) Currently have Durdin as my F7 emergency, if he manages a 75+, then turn Baldwin into Martin (provided he isn't playing or sub) and get Durdin's 75+ + Trac 163. Hope that Martin gets a crack in the next few weeks.

Option c) Grundy to Preuss, play Hayes this week. upgrade to premo elsewhere.

Don't want to be too short-sighted, but Trac is only in 11% of sides, so it could be a big boost early.

Thoughts on 163 for Petracca?

Angry Steve Martin low res.gif

I'm very pleased for those Coaches that have selected Petracca ..... I hope they had a good night of sleep, basking in the warmth of their achievement .....it's always important to acknowledge another's success

I’ll be looping Macraes score, it’s pretty obvious you have to take Petraccas

Bulldogs bottom 6 versus Dees bottom 6 the big difference tonight?
MELB significantly fitter than BULL ......last Qtr, Melb running on top of the ground, Bullies players had lost their run, and looked out on their feet .....IMO that was the diff

Had the VC on Petracca tonight. Interested to hear people's thoughts, i've always been one to get 30 green dots rnd 1. Loophole options will present after that...but with a 163 on the board, im strongly considering starting a non-playing rookie. Should i do it or just back in Grundy?
Work a way to get Pruess in if possible.

Possibly the dumbest post of the round

Of course you take Tracs score as captain

Net difference of +48pts if you C Grundy and he goes 115 (reasonable estimate IMO).

I think the green dots are more important at this stage, could easily be playing doughnuts later on this season and that will wipe 48pts pretty quickly, UNLESS you’re confident that whoever you choose as a loop comes in soon and plays plenty of games.

I think option C will negate the benefit of the +48pts

Two posts ....3am & 4am ...to pose a difficult question & remind us f how bad we feel

The answer you seek is….. Preuss

Completely missing the point mate, always prioritise getting all starting rookies, loophole's present themselves week in week out once the seasons up and going. I hate starting with a deliberate donut for that reason, because often it is only useful for one or two rounds & you lose out on cash gen.

Preuss the only one I can take that doesn't impact cash gen but I was set with Gawn and Grundy as the ruck combo. So its not really that dumb mate, requires far more consideration than you are making out.

I'd be putting O'Driscoll at D8. Likely to get games early and Freo are a good loop if he doesn't

I've looped Macrae's (VC) score with Pedlar ....knowing he'll play in a couple of weeks

Of your green dots, this week, 2 won't play next week anyway ....so what have you achieved

Don't loop a player that has zero chance of playing ....but not all good rookies will make the R1 line to play, normally injury, could be CoVid protcol

Agree with this, and that will be my likely tactic. Take a Martin, O’Driscoll, Pedlar type. Equally though, this year with 35 trades I think it opens things up for aggressive downgrading and upgrading. Say I pick Pedlar, could be round 3 by the time he plays, and then he might be the only decent rookie presenting as a cash cow at round 5 when I’ve got a few guys ready to go. Then it’s an issue.

Had Treloar in my team for half of yesterday. He may have just become an 'avoid for entire season' player after 26 disposals, 2 goals and a slight groin strain caused by kicking only netted him 79.
19% ownership for Treloar ....ouch

BTW great this year, we get % (VC) ownership and (C) ....separated

We'll get plenty of Rookies ...always do ....the AFL has top-up lists in their plans, for a reason

Most club lists will get a working over .....and then you always have West Coast to rely on

Wow.

People are going to use a non playing player to get a VC score of 132?

That is absolute madness.

I would not even do it for Petracca's score

It is all about the green dots this round.

Cash gen is king.

Agree, but I would for Petracca though. A 163 captain round 1 is a massive head start
