Because it probably relies on him getting consistent senior games to see the improvement required to earn his spot, like a Ben Keays situation.

And like Ben Keays his spot is as a first string midfielder. He doesn’t have the ability to compete with the other part time mids
Either way the competition for spots is what makes it exciting for next year and beyond

I saw a different article where this is mentioned
That is why i posted about a wing position he may be able to make his own

However i don't thing players that have not cemented their place in the best 22 be told they are best 22
Possibly just a journalist taking some liberties

"believed to have been told"

Could have been
Club - at this point the plan is to have you in the starting 22 and the position is yours to keep or lose.
Dev (remembering how hard it was to kick people out who were 'best 22' last year) - YES I'm best 22 :)

The only concern for the Jam Company is the possibility Tom may not be able to hold down a regular spot in an improving team..... a sticky situation.

Depends if Gold Coast preserve his position.

If Dev stays he could very well find a place on the wing even though it is not his natural position
He has been thrown out on the wing before without standing out
However his last half on the wing v Demons in the SF was quite good

Wing was a weak spot for us in 2022.
Berry was the consistant wing, but the other wing + bench wing spot was never a settled best 22 spot
Maybe Ashcroft gets a go but that would also be a change for him
Thought he got totally toweled up early by Holmes in the PF - his kicking is all over the shop.

Cut the kid some slack, he was overcompensating for plenty of others against Geelong. His effort on the wing to get first touch against the Demons. Give him a pre season on the wing and he will be much better for it.

Ooh, are we trading out players who were poor in the prelim? I can name a few... probably just easier if I copy and paste the team list though...
Jack Payne, Dev Robertson and Cam Rayner were pretty good in the Prelim, they are the untouchables as trade outs.

On the other hand Charlie Cameron, Dayne Zorko and Joe Daniher were ordinary, we are open to offers.

We'll take a Harley(2018 or older), a ladder and a jelly sandwich.

Does that include the coach as well by any chance, just asking for a friend by the name of Murray Davis ;)

Speaking of Reids, we couldnt get Franklin, do we go for the other one from Sydney?
I prefer McDonald more than those two, something tells me North Melbourne should have chose him instead of Phillips

Who’s going to tank the hardest for Reid next season.

Eagles. Keep playing the oldies and no one can even question them.

No wonder they were shocked with Redden retirement, throws a spanner in the works.

Morning lads,

Just wondering what the latest is with how you're aiming to get the Ashcroft points (~3000) and Fletcher points (~1000)?

Dunkley makes it tougher still.

Have any early trades been lined up?
