I don't think it will be as simple as Bowes + 7. I think Gold Coast will definitely want pick(s) back and probably a first rounder.

Bowes + 7 for our pick 15 and a later swap of picks seems to me where the trade will land.
If they want that I’d sure as hell not pay $800k for Bowes

Maybe if he was delisted next year, he might try his hand back at athletics again and represent Australia.

You never know, we could see him represent Australia at the 2032 Olympics in Queensland, and be known as “former Brisbane Lions player” Harry Sharp at the beginning of his track or marathon events 🏃🏻‍♂️ :smallfooty:
Also Jack Payne after a glorious 4 X Premiership decade with the Lions decides to go for gold in the Shot Put.

I can imagine Federal Science & Innovation Minister Justin Clarke hanging the gold medals around Harry and Jack's neck.

Future Australian Olympic Comittee member “David Noble” also in the background, organising the whole spectacle ;)

Alex Carey will always be Ex-GWS Captain to me. ;)

Future second.
It was mentioned today somewhere in the media the Suns were quoted to want something "fair" back
I was against Bowes for pick 7 so definitely don't want the newish mentioned deal
Say your future 2nd is what they want

Thats (7) 1644 points less say (33) 563 = 1081 points or about pick 16

Remember they want Tom Berry as a replacement for Rankine. That evens up the bargaining power. I don’t think pick 15 needs to be given back. Just and exchange of later picks.

Dev is definitely keen to stay though so West Coast will have to pitch something quite strong for him to want to move. Dev would essentially be leaving a team that made a prelim and who is an Ashcroft and Dunkley away from going all the way for a team who will be bottom 4.
I want Dev to stay as well, but if we get Bowes on top of Dunkley, Ashcroft and Fletcher, I think it's best for him (his career) to leave. I doubt we would play Bowes in defense, or that he would come to us if we intended to do so. Just leaves too many in front of Dev, especially if Lyons gets back on track as well and Zorko is still considered at least a part time mid.

Its all just a little frustrating though. I'd love to have seen a midfield that included Keays, Dev, Clugga, Berry and Ashcroft in a couple of years. Guys we drafted, rather than so many recruits. But it tends to be the way things go these days. It's about timing as much as anything.

Yeah definitely worth considering. We reject a second rounder for him this year, he spends most of next year in the 2s, then requests a trade with SFA value

It’s a nice sentiment but if the players you draft aren’t up to the standard, have to find replacements.

Good on K**ys for making a career elsewhere but by the end of the year he was playing as a pressure forward for the crows. Doesn’t have the top end traits or athleticism to be a difference maker in the middle for a flag winning team imo.

Albeit, he was by-far their best midfielder (since Sloane went down with ACL) due to his consistent effort and never give up attitude throughout the season.

Will he be a full-time midfielder for them in 5 years time when they make finals again, most likely not, but while the club is rebuilding and finding talent to help themselves rise up the ladder, Keays is the perfect person at the club to help build the club (in terms of effort and commitment) even if he won’t be there to reap his rewards, but we and everyone else at our club would be proud of what he has achieved ever since his delisting here, especially Fages :thumbsu:

I don’t disagree with any of this at all, and was delighted he got the opportunity to fill in as captain at least once I think? A total credit to him.

I do resist those who point to his numbers and say we shouldn’t have delisted him, as if you are a certain level of competent as a midfielder and get the playing time you can rack up touches. I’m sure if Matho had a similar role to Ben last year he could be putting up similar numbers.

It doesn’t mean that there is much impact or damage though.

Trade Matherson and keep Dev that will put some numbers in the pot
Pretty sure he will become our next Lester, the one who becomes the leader of the 2's. I remember him saying that he wanted to show the reserves players that you could still play great and not drop your heads just because you aren't playing seniors. Really stuck with me and that sort of personality is important for the 2's players to be around.

Sounds like Dev is 99% chance of staying.

Wants to win his spot and keep it.

The kid has a great attitude.

Id love to get him at the Eagles but it wont be this year unless the Lion's change their mind and ask him to move.
