All the best to Dan. Was a part of our journey from rock bottom back towards the top and even in departure will help us out with getting Ashcroft/Dunkley.

Hope he never wins a flag but has a nice end to his career with Collingwood, such is the case with most Brisbane to Collingwood career moves!

Just to give an idea how easy it can be to improve the points situation, Melbourne just traded picks 33, 43 and 53 (1174 points) to Port Adelaide for pick 27 (703 points). Rationale for them was that they had no intention of using picks 43 and 53 in the draft.

Not sure a future first and second is enough really TBH

They can take both firsts then and find us the points.
If the dogs say its not their problem then we'll give them a first and a second combo.

What's the rule with trading out future picks?

Surely you could go to the AFL and say we've (or will) pick up more young talent this year, including the best of the bunch, so we don't need to retain either of our first two rounds next year. It's not like we are an old team anyway.

I get they don't want teams trading out their future, but surely there is some wriggle room.

These list managers saying they’ve been tracking Jack Bowes for a while… liars. They just want pick 7. Brisbane included 😂

Imagine if the AFL was like the NBA. We get Bowes in and get pick 7, then (for example) we give Footscray pick 7 for Dunkley, and we then on trade Bowes to another club for another pick.

We should run a sweep - How many rounds will McStay play before being dropped?

And that's the advantage we have this year. We value the picks in the late 30's and 40's as I believe these will form the basis of our bid on Ashcroft. Some other clubs have very limited or no value for these picks.

Because of the bands it was either going to be:
  • Pick 16 (band 1) - if he got a Daniher-style contract.
  • Pick 19 (band 2) - if he got a $700k-ish pa contract.
  • Pick 35 (band 3) - if he got a $600k-650k-ish pa contract, which is what was being reported.
  • Pick 38 (band 4) - if he got a ~$500-550k-ish pa contract.
And then there's band 5 and no compensation, which are rare.

Literally impossible for us to get anything in the mid-20s as a result.
And apparently how those dollars PA rank in comparison overall.

Meaning 600-650k may not necessarily get band 3 next year.
Only found out about that little chestnut just this month 😜

Solid effort with photo from the Dogs media department in the top right there. The head and bodies match perfectly.

Shame they spent all their money on photoshop and couldn’t save it to keep decent players at the club :p

You still need the list spots in our case.
