So it seems we offered 15+ cutlery for Dunks, the Dogs refuse then get salty when we move on and split it?

The only certainty is that the Dogs are becoming bigger and bigger losers the further this goes on.

OK so walk him to the draft, it doesn't actually hurt us lol, but you get NOTHING for your existing club champion.

Guessing most folks won't be lauding you for that, and the player group might wonder what their future holds when you can destroy a club icon's desires just out of spite?

The dogs are massive losers already, and this shit is what happens when you give a bloke like Bevo free reign.

Look at the way he’s acted publicly basically all year. I’m convinced the only reason he wasn’t put on the ropes after that ridiculous round 1 post-match outburst was because the Tom Morris being a creep thing blew up the next day instead. Funny how that happened hey.

Honesty I would be trying to get the deal done quickly now. Chuck in a extra future second or third round pick. Last thing we want is for a club like Gold Coast to offer Dunkley 900,000+ salary and Adelaide's pick 5. They have ample cap space for the right player now. Hence why Richmond were smart and got the Taranto deal done asap, so they didn't have to compete with other Vic clubs.

Uhhh GC have ample cap space because they’ve got an extremely strong young core that are going to be signing long term very expensive extensions within the next 18 months.

They didn’t go out of their way to dump Bowes/Fiorini just to then turn around and pick up a very expensive player like Dunkley on a whim last minute

Yes.

Was mulling doing a post about how we could use our future 1st to trade into the national draft and pick Dunkley up after we’ve matched Ashcroft ahead of the dogs first rounder, but would take too long to work out the points permutations so gave up.

**** this would be the absolute funniest thing on the planet if it happened.

I’d take a day off work specifically to sit at home and read the dogs board all day

I think our future first next year will be fairly close to pick 15 again. Could range from 15 to 18 so not much difference either way.

The other dynamic at play is that the Bulldogs likely need to deal for Dunkley to satisfy Freo for Lobb - I'd demanding one of Brisbane's picks in the 20s if I were them.
Correct. Pick 21 could be a key pick to unlock other trades.

Pick 21 goes to Dogs as part of the Dunkley deal.
Dogs then give 21 to Freo as part of the Lobb deal.
Freo then trade 13, 21 and their future 1st to Melb as part of the Jackson deal.
Melbourne then use 21 as part of the Grundy deal.

That will give us too many picks to take to the draft. More likely we make such a trade on draft night, when the bid is made.

The challenge I see is we could pull these points now with Port and Geelong trying to get deals done. Not sure we'll get +200 or +400 on draft night with everyone able to squeeze us more. Our position or shortfall may be lot more clearer which may leave us at a disadvantage.

We get the picks now, delist someone like Cockatoo or more and see if we can go in with more safer draft hand maybe?

Yes.

But if Dunkley leaves the Bulldogs this year, no matter which team he lands at next year, he will NOT be a restricted/unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

dlanod can you confirm or not?

He won't be considered a delisted free agent if he goes in to the PSD, so his restricted free agency resets to zero, and any team will have to trade for him at the end of next season.
You're correct. FA variants only kick in after eight years service at one club (for the time being) or after being delisted, and Dunkley has not been either.

I'm also thinking should we line up our seniors to get delisted and get picked up again to make this all work.

Zorko, Rich, Lyons - delist them all off to generate free spots to cover all picks.

Complete the draft period and sign them all back again as delisted free agents.

GC did that and it back fired with north swooping in.....I personally wouldn't risk it

I'm confident all 3 that I nominated won't go anywhere.
They are at the stage of career where Premiership is more desirable and we are not very far.

Anyone know what our offer for Dunkley is at this point?
I'd guess Sam Power and Dom Ambrogio, plus maybe some of their sidekicks.

Straight on to the hard stuff? I like your thinking!
