For actual trade hypotheticals - you know the type of thing, Aish for first rounders, Martin for Carlisle, etc. Opposition supporters need to remember to not go off the deep end - this is the Lions board, not your own so getting up in arms over particular posts isn't a great idea.

The best thing about the old Trade Hypothetical threads was that I didn't have to destroy my limited brain cell collective by reading them to first time around ... hell no to going back for more now!!!

The best thing about the current Dunkley trade impasse is that for us it is just one trade - the them it is two - the currency from Dunkley is needed for the trade with Lobb (and so on to other clubs) so there is a lot more pressure on them to get it done ... and not all of those trades (as far as I know) can all be done in the last hour.

Our points goes from 3621 to 3189

Another option could be to pick swap with say Syd (F2 and 21 for 17 and 37)
Then trade F1 & 17 for Dunkley
We will be 37 points better off (3226)
Also we give the 2 'first' rounders they desperately want.

dunkley has been aa squad and looked absolutely awesome in 2019. no reason to think he cant make the AA team as he hits his prime with neale and clug in the same primary midfield unit as different types of players to bring out the best in him

he probably hasnt been elite as such since 2019 but can definitely see him hitting that level again with us. maybe only thing potentially holding him back would be his field kicking

"Elite" is one of those bullshit phrases that gets thrown around too easily. A bit like "gun" (apologies to PattyKwasagun , DevRoboGun and others) is thrown around a bit too cavalier to have any real meaning. To me, one All-Australian squad (!) berth does not suggest "elite" to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm rapt we're getting him onboard, but if I'm making a list a la Sheahan or Robbo, I'm probably choosing at least another 30 players I'd rank above him.

If Adam Cerra had gone to the PSD saying 1 year, I want to get to Carlton... and we had the choice, would you have been mad if we picked him up? For free? Knowing you will either re-sign him or trade him out for a first rounder or two in 12 months? Our board would spend pages talking about how good it would be to steal a gun without giving up picks...

West Coast won't pick him up because they're on the other side of the country? Are you kidding? If they only drafted West Australians they'd be kneecapping themselves. You enter the draft and you go where you're drafted. That's the way it works - it's in the rules for the draft.

Still, PSD is zero chance. Parties will come to an agreement as always.

We aren’t discussing a draftee, it’s a premiership midfielder. The rules of the draft disappear the minute they’re in the system and the guys who prove themselves get a fair say on where they want to end up. We should know as a fan base having been on the end of it many times.

Guys like Dev Rob would be justifiably pissed if their midfield minutes went to a blow in who didn’t even want to be there. On a massive contract too no less. Then 12 months from now we’re without them anyway.

And yes if we picked up Cerra despite him saying he wanted to move to Melbourne I’d be pissed. It’s an idiotic thing to do from a cultural point of view and doesn’t even make that much sense on field either. Having a player as a key cog of your midfield for one year…yeah great.

He's elite mate. You'll be a getting a 30 touch, 6-7 clearance, 6-7 tackle mid if played in the guts full time.

Hopefully, just worry about his kicking but if he’s a contested beast and tackler then doesn’t matter too much
