if we have a new forwards coach the assistants must be changing roles?
The new forwards coach is Murray Davis who was previously in defence.
He and Jed Adcock have swapped positions.
Hopefully to add a more defensive mindset to our forward group and help to lock the ball in.
And Jed will hopefully add a bit more of an attacking mindset to the defenders and add a bit of run.

Why would they need to swap to do that?

I would think swapping coaches around is more norman than not at most clubs
These guys may be senior coaches in waiting. Need to have allround coaching capabilities to get a senior gig
They all have ideas especially if new faces join the group

However it would be all under the management of Fagan and his imput and on how he wants things carried out

A little bit from the AFL article
......
In contrast, 11 first-round picks from this year's NAB AFL Draft changed hands. Only one of the current top-five selections is still owned by the side that it began with (Essendon at pick No.4).

Clubs can continue trading picks right up until the national draft on November 28-29, while teams can also exchange picks live on draft night.

THE MOST PICKS TO SWAP HANDS

21 third-round picks
16 second-round picks
13 future fourth-round picks
11 first-round picks
11 future second-round picks
10 future third-round picks
4 fourth-round picks
4 future first-round picks

Cannot see that is going to change much. No new ideas in that decision.

On the main board there is a "Big Footy Official Phantom Draft". Below the Lions selections

(1) Will Ashcroft - bid match
(18) Jaspa Fketcher bid match

(76) Tom McCallum

Have no idea if we will take 3 picks just thought i would post this
We don't have a lot to discuss with this draft

TASMANIA DEVILS TALL DEFENDER

#37

Tom McCallum

Height: 192cm
Weight: 78kg
D.O.B: 15-05-2004

SNAPSHOT: “An all-round athlete who can play above his height at either end of the ground, blending speed, endurance and aerial ability.”

As far as raw excitement goes, there a few draft prospects who catch the eye like Tom McCallum. The Tasmanian is one of the top talents out of the Apple Isle this year, having proven himself across 13 NAB League games and a full National Championships campaign with the Allies.

The athletic 192cm top-ager came into the Devils’ side last year as a forward, turning out six times for four goals and impressing with his aerial exploits. Given his side’s tall attacking options, he shifted to defence in 2022 and continued to shine with more of the same marking feats, as well as damaging rebound running.

Be easier if we could wait till after the draft. What are the options there?

Think we could either select him with a late pick in the draft or potentially in the pre season supplemental period.

From memory there was reporting earlier that he was eligible to be picked up in that period, but not sure if that’s the case.

Perhaps Conor wanted to be paid in dollars rather than side deals and property?
Property in Geelong isn't worth much back in Ireland.

We have so many in the backline I don't get it. He's a medium sized fast running player.
In the medium sized defenders we have
  • Answerth
  • Starcevich
  • Prior
  • Gardiner
  • Coleman
  • Rich
  • Willmot

Rich, Starcevich, Colman play along with Adams and Andrew's.

Thats 5 of the six defenders. Only one spot left so a lot of players miss out.

Gardiner is a third tall, Starce is more a lockdown defender, Coleman and rich are more ball users/kickers than line breakers. Answerth's disposal is terrible, prior is a wing and Wilmot is young and unproven. We've got no one who can create with speed from defensive 50.

We'd get Mckenna for nothing other than contract $ and he'd immediately be our best line breaking running rebounder, which we really don't have. Adds to the team speed as well which we need.
