Weren't we effectively offering to swap a pick from a supposedly superior draft for a lower pick in a shallow draft?

Picks are always worth more at the time of the draft than the future regardless of draft strength, as weird as that may sound.

The thought being youre improving your side now and worsening your pick next year (which may not always be true but thats the logic behind it)

We really love rolling the dice with WA lads don't we.

I don't mind it at all but there's obviously not much of a priority being placed on getting some young midfielders into the mix. Literally drafted a full forward and full back. Which we needed to do eventually but not many drafts where you don't take anyone under 195cm.
