So there was no interest in fiorini or sexton but to have them on 350x2 instead of 500x 1 does seem alot better. Both are still handy to have on the list but not at huge $$. Thompson out next year and a big fish in and our list looks sweet.

Collingwood were interested in Fiorini. We never shopped Sexton.

Still happy we kept sexton. One thing I think we seen this year with him is he needs to be close to 100 % fitness to have an impact. Relies heavily on his speed and agility and for most part this year he didn't have that. Although against poor opposition showed he can still kick a bag in the final round. With rankine out there's definitely room for a goal kicker.

He kicking 50 from 2 games? Pretty clear Dew has it out for him
Disagree. Sexton has had a pretty good crack at it under dew and has played some of his best footy under him. In the early games he got this year he was nowhere near the level. When he went back to the ressies he was hardly shooting the lights out, but to his credit worked hard and by the end of the season seemed he had some speed and agility back in his legs. Hopefully has an uninterrupted pre-season and starts Rd 1.

He won’t start round 1. Yes dew played him in 2018 and 19 but he clearly fell out of favour in 20’ onwards due to his defensive efforts and has become in dew’s hit list. Much like the Lyons, Brodie’s, Barlows and Wrights.

Sorry, missed 1 game.
Yep, and Rankine was in and out of the team. But when Rankine was fit Sexton was overlooked. Now Rankine is gone Sexton could take his spot again.

Still think Sexton could be our main goal-kicking small if he is fit.

But if we run with a tall set-up forward (King and Chol as well as Luko and Jeffrey) then I don’t think we can afford a small with no pressure… as much as I love his snap goals!

Gonna come down to team balance. I prefer goal threats to pure pressure, but we need some forward 50 defensive work for sure. Dew certainly loves it.

Until Sexton shows any interest in putting consistent effort into pressuring the opposition (not just when a goal is on offer), he isn’t going to be a regular. He just goes missing too much (pretty normal for a small forward) for us to be able to carry his lack of defensive effort.

If Sexton plays 22 games you would want 35 goals. His lack of defensive pressure, or creative field play limits him to a role as a finisher. With rankine gone I think there is the opportunity there for him to team up with Rosas and Holman in the fwd line but if he's not kicking goals regularly then maybe berry gets his chance.. 2023 draft the best small fwd we can
