don't see us going into a season hoping to play finals without an AFL fit backup ruckman. I expect Strachan to get an extension and maybe we draft a project. Berg the same in terms of backup KPF/ruck.
I reckon we might trade for one , get a delisted FA and / or also take a development kid

Reckon Strachan on last contract whenever it expires which might be end of 2024

I don't think there's much better out there in terms of experience. Reality is that we don't go too far backwards playing him instead of our current first ruck. I think we keep him and throw a dart at developing a kid.

Never going to get an outstanding ruckman that way unless you pay big draft collateral...just also rans.

Most clubs draft a ruckman to develop just as we should.
I don't think you need an 'outstanding' ruckman. Identify someone who looks promising but is being kept out of the team by an outstanding ruckman.

ROB is miles ahead of him which just shows he’s not going that well , but you might be right re lack of other options re experienced types

It’s a good draft for rucks so maybe we go the development route … I’m ok with this and keep Strachan for 1-2 yrs in meantime

the only area that ROB is ahead is hitouts won. Strachan is barely worse in every other aspect. On average.

He’s battling in sanfl this year from what I’ve seen

Not playing anywhere near as well as last year

I don't care about SANFL form, it's an ammo comp compared to the big league. I only consider his AFL games where, given his lack of experience and opponents, he's measured up very well each time.

Rubbish, The only area of Strachan's game that he has ROB covered is his kicking...nothing else.

Should be clubs lining up to trade for him then if it comes down to just lack of oppportunity

I’ll be interested to see who comes for him at end of season , best result would be a bidding war then we trade him off
My point was he did very well for a sub 5 gamer in the majority of the 5 games he played.
Far from useless.

Agree - Useless was bit harsh

Somewhere between useless and very good more fair

Not good enough to warrant other clubs coming for him ( in my opinion )
If other clubs did come for him it would be no different to his role with us......a reasonable depth option behind your number one ruck.....while you patiently develop a youngster to take over from your number one ruck.

All we need now is that young developing ruck. :)
