Tom Atkins I'll give you ....Wilkie though, for an AFL Capt, makes so many brain fade decisions ....not skills wise, just decision making out of DEF
Jack Steele has been Saints captain since 2021 ??

Umm with all these good players plus a maturing of our young squad plus what if we have stuff all injuries, what are we gonna do when we have a run of 15 goal wins against the SANFL teams. I like that we can get extra players but it's still a shit setup for the comp.

We won't. Really, there isn't a significant difference between our 23-45 and the top teams in the SANFL in terms of quality.

After all, it's not like the Norwood/Sturt/Glenelg of the world don't have a fair few lads who got stuck - and chewed out - in the no-mans-land of an AFL list.

I wonder if Archer Day-Wicks was heading over to the Crows before the Bombers took him in the rookie draft?
Seems a very real possibility given we offered an opportunity via our SANFL squad to Blake Drury another forward.
Have to say Day-Wicks would have been a great get with massive potential upside given what he showed as a 16 year old before illness and injuries struck him down, A very mercurial medium forward with great forward craft and I.Q.

Archer Day-Wicks talks joining Essendon, injury setbacks and the AFL star with similar traits

Archer Day-Wicks thought he’d be moving to Adelaide in 2025, before an unexpected call changed his plans. He tells CHRIS CAVANAGH how it all went down.

Essendon draftee Archer Day-Wicks already had his back-up plan.
Thinking that he had missed his AFL chance after being overlooked in this year’s national draft, the Bendigo boy had decided he would seek a move to Adelaide to show his wares to recruiters in the SANFL next season.
Day-Wicks could prove to be a rookie draft gem, with the mid-sized forward having been highly-rated before two years interrupted by injury and illness.

He battled a bout of glandular fever last year, before suffering a hip flexor injury at training which led to another stint on the sidelines.

Selected as part of the AFL Academy squad for 2024 despite the limited bottom-age campaign, Day-Wicks then suffered a serious corky in his quad early this year

That injury took almost two months to come good, before he found form in the second half of the season.

“They were all setbacks, but in the end I prevailed and it showed my resilience,” Day-Wicks said.

Pretty built as well. Looks a likely type and could be a value pick for the Dons, time will tell

I see former Crows NGA and Central Districts small forward Isaiah Dudley is training with Fremantle for a SSP spot on their list after Odin Jones was placed on the LTI.

Norwood/Tassie Devil small forward Baynen Lowe also training with them looking for a SSP spot on their list.

How many confirmed SANFL/VFL players do we have?

Atkinson
Drury

Didn’t Reid say that Jack Michaelanney is staying with the Norwood set up rather than playing with our SANFL side?
He might be, not sure.

Was reported a while back that he was keen to join the Crows if he went undrafted but that could also change given the exodus at Norwood... might present him with more opportunities.

Ned is a Sturt player not Norwood.

I’ve thought Lowe had a lot of AFL traits every time I saw him for Norwood so wouldn’t surprise if he ends up on their list.
