Yeah I don’t think he was a fan favourite at North, exactly

But I don’t really have strong feelings either way, if he shows he’s not up for a second chance it’s no big deal

I remember him having a pretty good Nationals for Vic Metro playing mostly forward with squirts on ball.

Played a fair bit of midfield for the Chargers as well , a real hard nut.

Showed a bit for Centrals through the SANFL junior pathways, played a lot of forward as well as ruck.

Good overhead and sound goal kicking set up.

Can;t help you there, I'd imagine they'll be doing some sprt of pre-season with the SANFL squad especially a guy like Drury who doesn't have a local club.

Nope they are trialling a ruck for a depth spot on their list.

The only thing Boyd has over Strachan is he hasn't yet been tried at AFL level and shown he's not up to the level. Oh and he's 3 years younger I think which is significant.

You and I both know we should have attended to our ruck department several years ago by bringing in a young development ruck behind ROB and Strachan.
It's s now imperative given surely they can see given Strachan's dismal AFL efforts against Grundy we need better mature ruck depth behind ROB.

List management in the ruck area has been all levels of poor when looking to the future. If this board's rumour that ROB may be on the move next season we're in all sorts of trouble because Strachan also out of contract is not the answer to take over

In the worst case scenario we would then need to procure both a lead ruck and a back up mature ager ruck and god forbid we ever think to draft a young developing ruck for minimum draft chips to take over into the future.

Qute possibly, both tend to dominate the SANFL but unlike Strachan Boyd might be able to step up to the next level

And I dont think we will, its not our style.

Id expect a few more U18s and maybe some interstate top ups. I think we had Sam Davidson coming over too, but he got drafted.

I think our recruiting guys must have rated him somewhat in his draft year,.

Disposal and decision making looks elite which immediately puts him ahead of all the top ups and some actually on our main list. My recollection he was a real hard nut when playing for the Chargers.

That would make a lot of sense Bicks. There is nothing left in the SANFL of any quality, height and right age bracket
