Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

From last year - predraft.

Will Elliott
State: Victoria Metro
State League Club: Oakleigh Chargers
Community Club: Surrey Park
Date of Birth: 11/06/04; Height: 202cm; Weight: 90kg

Ruckman/key forward who looked an outstanding prospect in 2021, showing great mobility and strength overhead. Unfortunately, he was injured early in the 2022 NAB League season and played only two matches. Clubs have continued to monitor his recovery and he received an invitation to the 2022 NAB AFL State Draft Combine in Victoria. Is the son of former Australian cricketer Matthew Elliott.
Hows his cover drive ? Hopefully like the old mans 🙂

Personally I’m hoping the era of taking ‘cheapz’ players coming off serious injuries in the hope were can fully rehab them is over. If we choose will I would hope that it’s not on a presumption that he will return to previous levels, but in what he’s showing now.

Watching the VFL game between Footscray and Carlton aka Harley Reid watch!

He has had limited possessions but geez he looks good when he has them. Pity - if he were on the other side, he would be flying. The Blues aren’t that good.

6 touches in 2 1/2 quarters? Delist.

Do we have any 2023 draftees playing at Box Hill in the coming weeks?

I think it is a week by week proposition. We find out on the Friday. It also depends if the guys have a weekend off from U18s like Harley Reid does this weekend.

He trained with us in pre-season too. Do you know if we requested him or this just a coincidence?
I think they might request it, because Harley Reid trained at essendon and is playing at Carlton, but Watson trained with us and is playing for us, Duursma trained with melb and are playing for them, but the Harley Reid one makes me believe it's a request.

Duursma and Watson both trained with us last summer too.

Harley Reid vs Footscray VFL
13 disposals
10 kicks
3 handballs
3 marks
2 tackles

Didn't watch the first 3 quarters of the Dogs v Blues match, however Harley was on 6 disposals at 3 quarter time.

Harley however did respond and in the last quarter he picked up 7 touches, a clearance or two, and generally looked good.

I was just coming in to post re: Stephen Milne; namely, that IMO Watson has better physical attributes & higher upside than Milne.

Milne kicked 575 goals or something similar.

Well worth a Pick 2-5 IMO.
Yet, similar to Papley, Milne was overlooked by everyone and taken at pick #23 in the 2000 Rookie draft.

Recruiters just don’t seem to get excited about short players.

Few years ago I rated Charlie Cameron as a top 10 prospect, he went in the rookie draft, I had Jack Ginnivan a top 20 prospect too, he also went in the rookie draft, recruiters don't like small forwards....

I think times have changed though, having Pickett go at 11, then wasn’t there 3 or so small forwards in the top 25 last year?

Hmmm, is this the Box Hill game in Wonthaggi on Sunday 30 April 2023 ?

I think I got it wrong, I was thinking this tweet said Nick Watson was playing for BHH, but it's about Zane Duursma and Cooper Simpson last week, i saw something about Nick Watson playing at Box Hill, but that was for Eastern Ranges, my bad.

HAWTHORN will get a close look at exciting draft prospect Nick Watson this season, with the small forward expected to play games with Box Hill
