If McKercher isn't available, which I think is very likely, I'd love to see us end up with something like Sanders, Croft, Lual, Visentini. That's four competitive aggressive players.
If we pick Sanders first and are going for aggressive and competitive types I'd be trying to trade up for Collard.

If it's a choice between Watson and Sanders I hope we go with Sanders. We need another competitive firestarter. When Libba got concussion our midfield went missing , and as good as he is he is 32 so time is running out for Libba.

And we need to start bringing through the next wave of mids , and I think Sanders would be a great start.

Yep! Libba could fall off a cliff next season for all we know. Libba, Bont, Macrae are really our only elite inside extractors. Given we do not have a first round pick next season. We'd be relying on nailing late speculative picks to fill the gaps. Sanders will be able to play round one, and potentially take over full time within a couple of seasons.

Losing Libba showed why he is the most important player on the list. You see the massive drop off in the middle in games he is not there.

We'd still need some leg speed. I reckon our late picks will be used to target more outside players.

Have been told we want Sanders not Watson
Interesting, probably the right choice but damn it’ll hurt watching Watson be a gun. If there was any year to have to high picks it’s this one, Watson as a lower risk 2nd pick and a top quality mid would be so good. But with only one pick I think Sanders is probably the smart choice.

If we get Baz back to his best and he stays which I’m confident in (have you heard anything at all on likelihood of Baz staying?) Bont, Baz & Sanders is such a great starting midfield to take us forward, all compliment each other perfectly in the centre

I don't know why everyone's so convinced West Coast will trade pick 1. Barring North selling the farm and making an offer that includes picks 2 and 3, I don't see it happening.

West coast need several high end picks though. And yep north can only entertain losing one of pick 2/pick 3 to get 1.

just a guess but if i had to wager id say it ends up Pick 1 for pick 2 plus 15, 17 and 18. maybe a late pick thrown back.

I would LOVE Sanders
I’ve flip flopped a lot with Sanders. He was the first player to really catch my eye this year, and winning the Larke medal is pretty much a guarantee you’ll become a solid to elite player with only a few exceptions. I’d still prefer Watson or McKercher over him, but wouldn’t be upset if we took him over Duursma/Curtin. We’re highly reliant on Libba and he’s a pretty solid replacement in terms of hardness, extraction and ball usage.

Still have fingers crossed for McKercher or Watson

Didn’t Sam Power win it in the Hodge/Ball/Judd year?

Recent Larke Medal winners:
22 Will Ashcroft
19 Deven Robertson
18 Sam Walsh
17 Oscar Allen
16 Jack Graham
15 Josh Schache
14 Christian Petracca
13 Dom Sheed
12 Lachie Whitfield
11 Stephen Coniglio

Actually seems like a reasonable indicator which surprises me tbh. Schache the only real outlier, and possibly Graham although he was drafted late anyway

We are clearly interested in Collard but can't see it happening. When we were scouting him he was looking like a late pick, but the cats out of bag now and he could go as early as late first round. But at worst mid second round.

It's Caleb Windsor who Twomey was referring to.

He seems pretty set that we'll be taking Watson or Sanders.
Tested very well at the combine and his tackling for an outside player is very good. Seems to have leapfrogged Wilson and the best wing in the draft

I can't see Hawks passing on McKercher tbh.
They've been linked to Duursma for months now. I suspect they take him if available

I agree with those who suggest we need Norf to get Reid in order for us to have a look at Watson and outside chance of Mekercher.

Interesting that Twomey said that “north still probably choose midfield this year” seems to imply he doesn't think they would choose Curtain which is not good for our chances of getting Watson.

I agree we need Sanders for long term but we are wasting Bont’s prime years rebuilding. Watson immediately improves our forwardline balance and goal threat.

Mekercher the dream, maybe even a wet dream but just cant see it happening.

guess it’s time to binge watch a LOT of Sanders
I'd never heard of him until watching a champs game and you couldn't take your eyes off him. He had longer hair then and was like an angry paddle pop lion.

He'll be a gun, only question is over a lack of second position, like Libba
