Round 1 was 2 picks longer than the ‘Gold Coast’ draft in 2010 and just 1 pick shorter than the ‘GWS’ draft of 2011.

Compromised.
1 Compo pick for Mckay to North
2 Father son matching bids McCabe Hawks and Croft WB
4 Academy bids, 3 by GC and 1 by Sydney
18 teams
-----
25 which was premier's Collingwood's standard Rd 1 pick and they didn't trade this away.
( 25 picks made up Rd 1 in 2010 draft before any add ons ie 16 + 9 for GC and 26 picks in 2011, 17 + 9 for GWS before add ons)

End of Rd 1
2 compo picks for Dodee to crows and Gresham to saints
1 BS North priority picks one awarded in 2023
1 Academy bid by GC
-----
29 this pick used by Carlton as its North priority pick which came after compo picks - Adelaide used Dodee pick to Bid for a Suns Academy player Will Graham.

Rd 2 starts at pick;
30 by wooden spooner WCE, and didn't trade it away.

Pretty outrageous how many draft picks Norf have been gifted. They are like the special Olympics club at this stage
It seems odd though they way they used them. Basically pick up 2 X mids, then went 2 X rucks.

Would have thought maybe they would set up the entire field, grab 1 X mid, KPD, maybe a KPF or something like that.

North have never shown any interest whatsoever in drafting for need or balance in recent years, and it's probably a large reason as to why they're so shit.

I'd go

Delean

Kade De La Rue

Vigs

That could work out really well.

We probably have Mitch Georgiades on the long term injury list at the start of the year that would allow a Rookie upgrade?

I'd expect Georgiades to be playing SANFL trials in Feb/March. Would be 10-11 months post-ACL.

Only another 44 picks and Port get a pick provided there are no pick swaps or horse trades along the way.

What a wankfest, like everything else these days the so called Draft is an event orchestrated for the media by the AFL.

So now we have the Allen Aylett Medal to add to the Brownlow, Norm Smith and soon to be announced Barassi Premiership Cup. All trophies named after Victorians in what is supposed to be a national competition.

This is a negative post I know but the whole exercise of the Draft has become a negative in my eyes. I am all for trading but no team should be able to trade their way out of a Draft as we have done.

We needed ready made rucks and key defenders. We are not getting that in a draft.

I think we’ll take a small forward and a mid. Wouldn’t discount us taking a 3rd pick and not bothering with the rookie draft either.

Jack Delean would be ideal. Other small forwards we’ve been linked to look much the same to me and I’m no where near deep enough in this draft to seperate them. Lachie Charleson‘s pace and kicking a big bag is appealing.

In terms of mids, one of McAuliffe or Lorenz would fit the bill. It’s so hard to predict if a man-child like Stevens is going to be able to translate his game to the AFL but could be an option. Kobe Ryan seems to be the forgotten man a draft time but could fit the bill too.

My kiss of death

Delean / Charleson
Johnson / Carroll

Rookie
Rawlinson
Weckert
A tall skinny ruck to develop behind Ivan, Sweet and Vis 1 - maybe even a basketballer

But I expect Parker to pluck one out of nowhere. Someone playing local footy somewhere.

You obviously haven't spoken to Taylor but your recruiters had and they were keen. It’s okay you can try again in a few years.

They certainly weren't recruiting him after North took him out from under their nose :D
