Yeah I mean I see the high ceiling in Walsh, which sounds like you do as well.Walsh is literally the perfect Houston replacement taller, stronger and faster with a ridiculously good kick for someone his size he will be our Stewart.
How much of this is because he was a first year captain remains to be seen.Rozee's biggest weakness is in the mind not the body, a guy with his acceleration should never be physically dominated (force = mass x acceleration) but he is too meek and takes short steps.
Depends which way you see it, in terms of quantity no. But we've always prioritised Dixon in our gameplan and he's that strong aggressive playerStrong aggressive players haven’t been a priority in the Hinkley years.
Mitch and luko are locked and we have one of Lord, finlayson, Marshall, Whitlock or Visentini to pair with them. Down back we have Esava and I'd love it if he never played a game again so we need to get games and development into Walsh as a defender his best position. I'd prefer him to start as an intercepting defender that plays on the weakest small.Yeah I mean I see the high ceiling in Walsh, which sounds like you do as well.
I just think that power, speed and class can be used up forward given we're lacking it there
QuestionA first rounder and an early 2nd should have been our worst outcome, not a first rounder and a 9 game small forward we could have got for bugger all.
They fk’d up.
I wouldn’t have taken Berry at 13.Question
I’m all for giving stick when it’s warranted
I hated the Houston trade.
However
If we trade him for 13 and 20 and took Berry and Whitlock would you have been happy?
Essentially, at the end of it all the number is irrelevant, the player is the key.
Berry and Whitlock for Houston at the end of the day is acceptable
Dixon has been dead for almost 2 years.Depends which way you see it, in terms of quantity no. But we've always prioritised Dixon in our gameplan and he's that strong aggressive player
I'm not saying he's of that quality. I'm saying he had that trait at least. And now we don't have any who has thatDixon has been dead for almost 2 years.
He could hardly walk last year comparing him with the names you mentioned before is laughable.
When we last won a flag we had plenty of them all over the ground.
Prior to trade period we had picks 36 (Moraes) and 54 (A lot of movement but let’s just say used to trade up on draft night to ensure we got Berry)I wouldn’t have taken Berry at 13.
I preferred Reid but what’s done is done, there’s no going back.
Hopefully they all turn out good.
PS we got Berry and Richards for Houston.
And 29… so we got berry, Whitlock and Richards. The other picks involved were our first for lukosious, and an upgrade of our 58-50 and our 39-36.I wouldn’t have taken Berry at 13.

I thought our second pick of the draft came from GC.And 29… so we got berry, Whitlock and Richards. The other picks involved were our first for lukosious, and an upgrade of our 58-50 and our 39-36.
I guess if you want it split differently you could argue we got lukosious, Atkins, 29 plus the 2 upgrades for our future first, but I would think that 29 was more due to Houston leaving.
All of our picks came from Gold Coast because Collingwood didn’t have any. They also gave up noble and we got the pick that would have gone to them for him. Having it all tied in together certainly makes it confusing though, and I think it enables all the clubs to present it as a good deal for them.I thought our second pick of the draft came from GC.
I read it as we got 13, Richards from collingwood
And Lucko,Atkins and the 33 and 45 pick coming from GC.
So Collingwood gave up Richards and 13 for Dan.

Essentially if you want to break it down
- Luko for F1
- Houston for Berry and Whitlock
- Atkins and Richards for 54
What you would or wouldn’t pick is irrelevant
Both Berry and Whitlock general consensus were tipped to go in first round of draft.
Having it all in one makes the deal look better for sure from our perspective. All of our picks came from Gold Coast because Collingwood didn’t have any. I think we were a second round pick short overall in this deal. But overall our list has come out of it in a pretty good place moving forward.
Yep, the only list I've seen in 40+ years of watching SANFL/AFL that was close to having no holes, was Essendon's 2000 list. Even that ruck was just average. Every other premiership side I've seen before or since has had multiple 'journeymen' players, who a good coach can get performing a role, allowing the talent to shine cough Billy Frampton cough. Port's list is good enough to win a flag, as it has been most of the last decade. We all know why we haven't been the club, with the 'list with spuds' that hasn't won one. There's roughly 800 players on AFL lists and about 350 of them are actually good with the rest being either spuds or unproven young players with a better than even chance of becoming a spud. Just accept that the talent pool is shallow, no list is perfect, every list has 'holes' and every list has spuds.
Size is overrated, we just witnessed Brisbane win a flag with 177cm Lachie Neale and 182cm second year player Will Ashcroft leading from the front with a fleet of lean runners supporting them.
Of those on our list, I previously expected Sinn and Bergman to evolve into bigger, or at least powerful, midfielders. Don’t know if that still could happen if Bergman stays with us long term and Sinn finally gets his body and form together.
Yeah I mean I see the high ceiling in Walsh, which sounds like you do as well.

Don't know if this was posted, Geoff Parker's thoughts on the draft. He can be expansive when the picks are done. Some good insights.
My point more so is that we should've focused on getting at least one KPD in so that we can have Walsh forward. Right now, we almost need Finlayson to play in SANFL as a tall defender alongside Esava and a newbie in Moss. That's a very inexperienced KPD backline unless I'm missing someone. We have options up forward
Defence is largely bereft of talent
It was a 3 way tradeNo
Lucko, Atkins , pick 29 and 50 for a F1 with GC
Collingwood gave us 13 and Richards and a three pick upgrade on what we already had.
My guess is that the club sees Walsh as more of a defender. My point more so is that we should've focused on getting at least one KPD in so that we can have Walsh forward. We just need to make sure we tape up Aliir's ankles and knees, hell just tape him up like a mummy when he plays because if he goes down for an extended period of time, our back ups are bang average at best.
When dealing with two clubs it’s two deals. It was a 3 way trade
You can split it up however you want, but the facts are we gave up Houston and a F1 for Luko, Atkins, Richards, Berry and Whitlock
If you want to say we traded Houston for Atkins and our F1 for the rest, go right ahead, it makes zero difference.
Just deal with the facts
You are quite exhausting!
What was the GC deal in your fantasy land? When dealing with two clubs it’s two deals.
We could have just as easy done the GC deal got Lucko and told Collingwood to fk off.
