And even more when spudmania comes in 2 years timeThere's roughly 800 players on AFL lists and about 350 of them are actually good with the rest being either spuds or unproven young players with a better than even chance of becoming a spud. Just accept that the talent pool is shallow, no list is perfect, every list has 'holes' and every list has spuds.
He literally said it an interview that Port asked him to play midfield at SANFL mate, it's not a comment I make without any basis.
That’s my point, why are we keeping these useless smalls that should have been axed this year.
Instead of getting rid of them all we have done is add more.
What doesn’t make sense to me is why Richards was involved in the Dan deal when we could have picked him up for nothing.
Instead of two first round picks we got one and a 9 game small forward.
We payed top dollar so you’d think the club believes he’s our Rioli replacement, but wait now we need an extra one with our first pick because in reality the club fk’d up the Dan deal.
All this while promoting Jedstar to the main list and keeping other smalls that are shit.
They are so obsessed with small forwards the club has totally forgotten about any defender type players.
We get a couple of injuries down back and we have zero talent to cover it.
Nothing against the players we drafted but this club has no idea about building a balanced side.
A for drafting my arse, more like an F.
What are you concerns re Whitlock. I would play him ahead of Lord if we had a game next week.I think I made it very clear that I think drafting Berry was, in my opinion, the wrong call. I like Berry, he'll be a very good small forward. Just don't think he's what we need on the back of us getting Joe Richards. I agree regarding McEntee, I never wanted him even during his u18s and that hasn't changed.
I'm overall still on the fence regarding our draft haul. I'm not convinced as much as others here and in the media that we had one of the better drafts of all teams. Moraes has the highest ceiling, Berry will be a consistent forward in the mould of Bayley Fritsch, Jack Whitlock, I honestly hope I'm wrong about him but I have concerns.
Once the dust settles (hasn't yet for me), they'll all have 100% backing from me. But for the keen-eyed draft watchers it's fine to criticise the picks in a constructive way. Barrett, according to me, has more talent than McEntee, Anasta or Charleson. But you're entitled to your opinion.
From a List Management sense, if by Round 1 we somehow don't have another KPD on the list then this offseason in totality is a fail for me. Yeah we have a new look forward line but none of that matters until we get a new coach cause I don't see a reason why after 13 years anyone would expect Donuts to change his plan.
At the very least, I am keen to watch some players develop in SANFL. 2025 for me personally is just a focus on development, don't really care where we finish because we aren't in it to win it.
People should stop with the big bodied mid crap for mine we have them and some kid ain't coming in replacing Wines, Drew, JHF in their first year. If the coaching staff can't get Wines, Drew, JHF, Butters & Rozee winning you big finals they should all be sacked there would be umpteen clubs pretty happy with that contingent.People need to start realising Berry is a smallish mid who can play forward. Yeah I wanted a big bodied mid but he is an upgrade on Mead.
hes a small forward who can play midPeople need to start realising Berry is a smallish mid who can play forward. Yeah I wanted a big bodied mid but he is an upgrade on Mead.
A first rounder and an early 2nd should have been our worst outcome, not a first rounder and a 9 game small forward we could have got for bugger all.If Dan played for another club & nominated Port as his destination, I’d be pissed if we forked out two first rounders. He’s good, but apart from his kick, he’s no superstar. He’s at the wrong age of 20 as well. Two first rounders was hopeful.

I'm not against them at all they are just not our glaring needs for the present, small forwards have now been addressed which was as glaring as **** on a bull, I'd have liked a young KPD but I'm fine with the hand played this year otherwise. If we draft players when we desperately need them in our 22 then we’re going to be behind by 4-8 years
We draft a player in 2025 he’s not 22 years of age (still very young for a footballer) until 2029.
At which point wines and drew are 35 and 31 years old.
And that’s assuming we nail the pick the first time and not spend 3 drafts before we find the guy.
We absolutely need inside mids on our list developing right now.
unfortunately this draft wasn’t stacked with them, but all the more reason to understand why you need them already on the list. It’s not as easy as just picking them up when you want them and plugging them into your side as a future 200 gamer.
Of those on our list, I previously expected Sinn and Bergman to evolve into bigger, or at least powerful, midfielders. Don’t know if that still could happen if Bergman stays with us long term and Sinn finally gets his body and form together. If we draft players when we desperately need them in our 22 then we’re going to be behind by 4-8 years

And we have size anyway they could also use SPP more often in there for bursts.Size is overrated, we just witnessed Brisbane win a flag with 177cm Lachie Neale and 182cm second year player Will Ashcroft leading from the front with a fleet of lean runners supporting them.
His highlights look like those of a high half forward/wingman to me who drifts down and kicks goals. I expect he wont be exclusively playing deep small fwd.People need to start realising Berry is a smallish mid who can play forward. Yeah I wanted a big bodied mid but he is an upgrade on Mead.
I think SPP should 100% take meads spot in the midfield this year while we figure out which of Tommy A, Berry, Richards, Moraes and Lorenz play wing and small forward. And we have size anyway they could also use SPP more often in there for bursts.
Yeah but look at the build of the Brisbane players all over the field.Size is overrated, we just witnessed Brisbane win a flag with 177cm Lachie Neale and 182cm second year player Will Ashcroft leading from the front with a fleet of lean runners supporting them.
Yep, if they can play footy and you have a group that complements each other it doesn't matter.Size is overrated, we just witnessed Brisbane win a flag with 177cm Lachie Neale and 182cm second year player Will Ashcroft leading from the front with a fleet of lean runners supporting them.
We could have kept him then. We didn't have to let him go it was weak.Collingwood had stuff all to give us, Dan decided to pick them. We got the best we could.

We’re good guys, everyone knows where good guys finish. We could have kept him then. We didn't have to let him go it was weak.
Funny you say that because I have bigger concerns on LordWhat are you concerns re Whitlock. I would play him ahead of Lord if we had a game next week.
Walsh is literally the perfect Houston replacement taller, stronger and faster with a ridiculously good kick for someone his size he will be our Stewart.Funny you say that because I have bigger concerns on Lord
Tbh it's an issue among all our key forwards maybe except Georgiades. But I don't see aggression or ability to command the forward 50. Like if you think about it, when we play certain teams we are always worried about their key forwards. Hogan, Curnow, Hawkins, McKay, Daniher and the likes of. Who in our team does that now? It used to be Dixon, but if indeed Whitlock is the replacement, I just don't see that aggression. Lord has that to an extent but would like to see more. But Lord has a poor set shot routine and until he fixes that, I'll never have confidence. Whitlock is slightly better in that department but has his woes in front of goal. If I remember right, I posted here during trade season saying if someone offers a 2nd round pick for Lord I'd take it.
Saying all that, now that it's all done and dusted, there's only 2 confirmed started in the tall positions which is MG and JL. The 3rd is open and I would like to be Marshall if he's fit but that leaves a hole in the 2nd ruck. I'd say behind those 3, it's either Visentini or Whitlock for me.
Esava was a temporary fix last year and it wasn't the worst but can't go a full season like that. Finlayson is unreliable due to his personal issues (and fair enough). Lord, my thoughts are above, if he focuses his set shot routine and 2!_ ruck craft then that 3rd open spot could be his but I do think the ceiling is limited.
The one I really like out of all of those is Xavier Walsh but we seem to like him behind the ball.
Strong aggressive players haven’t been a priority in the Hinkley years.Funny you say that because I have bigger concerns on Lord

Even old man Zorko is ripped, our guys would struggle to open a coke bottle.
Been said time and time again on this forum in finals….boys against men.
Neale and Ashcroft might be small in size but they pack a punch around the ground.
They would run straight through guys like Rozee.
Successful Port Adelaide sides have all had one thing in common and that’s strength around the ground.
Until we get that back we ain’t winning bugger all.
