I agree there is a built in GF advantage to Victorian clubs. But I think Collingwood were clearly the better side and the game was close because of relative accuracy in front of goals. I think if played on neutral ground as for eg in 2021, Pies still win.

They were the better side because they were playing on their home ground. The result absolutely would have been reversed if it had been played at the Gabba.

Yep, I was barracking for Lions but you just can't deny the Pies.

Their mindset has so much will and self belief. The 1%ers just keep them in the game. All 3 finals they could have easily lost but they just find a way. Has happened way too many times to be a fluke.

dont hold your breath...we have no leaders, no spirit and no guts to even make a finals series let alone win a final. Our coaching staff are outcoached weekly, our board are more worried about turning a profit and our past players/coaches continually white ant the club with leaks and undermining anything the latest new coach tries to do. We are boys playing against men, amateurs playing professionals

Theyve been incredibly lucky. 3 elite father sons gifted to them and two durable superstar stalwarts have allowed them to spot fix their list with ease. Even the previous generation wouldnt have won anything without Cloke.

While they are professional outfit, its easier to maintain than drop down and build again especially when your getting those kinds of advantages.

Carlton have been trash - going a decade without finals - and we matched the Pies on flags won in the AFL era the entire time through mutiple Colliwobbles.

Couldn't have been laid out better for us to do something to get ahead for more than 20 years.
