There's some serious melting over on the North board considering they've been gifted three end of first-rounders and will be gifted pick 3 for one of the league's most vanilla, injury-prone footballers in about a week's time.

Did they legitimately expect pick 11 AND Sanders too?

Still, glad they don't get Sanders. Makes our pick more valuable if we're looking to trade up – someone like Hawthorn or North could be open to giving away their access to McKercher or Duursma if our pick could give them Sanders (plus pick 13).

Sanders would have been the most silly assistance the AFL would have ever given. A club has never just outright asked for a specific player before.

Who knows, maybe we offer him two years to the cats one year, aspirations of coaching and a promised pathway. He'd hardly be the first player to go down that path.

One club player means nothing anymore. No one will remember him as anything other than a cat no matter what he does.

Isn't he living on the Bellarine Peninsular.?

Maybe a helicopter ride each training session, to/from his property, to either the Yarra Hellipad or to near Casey-Fields...

2 chopper rides per day.

Jeepers in North end up drafting McKercher, Curtain and Duursma they might end up with the greatest draft of all time.
It’s an envious position to be in at this point but there are plenty of examples of shit club syndrome ruining careers/calling out the wrong names.

There is always a chance North could give up 3 for our 5 and 13 depends how they rank the top 10, but it would certainly give them a stronger draft hand.

If we really want someone like McKercher then we will have to give up a bit to get him.

Giving up pick 13 for a 2 spot rise would be a lot in a year where we need to use a few picks.. but I’d be ok with it if we got McKercher.

Yep, it is a lot but if we are really keen on McKercher I’m sure we will look at it, with some picks coming back our way

youre really talking about pick 18-19 at that point

Don't think North are in the market for mids. They have Logue and a few stop gaps as key back options, and Logue has done his ACL. They need talls all over the ground, both now and especially as development options, and have drafted about 6 inside mids in 3 years worth of first rounders.

Now would be the time to go for Tarryn Thomas.

After that swag of picks, North will end up with GCS pick 4. Probably get Sanders anyway. 2, 3 and 5 is the sort of hand you can build a list on.
They surely win a flag with the picks they've had last year and this year. With more picks next year as well. Bloody hell. They already got the best coach. Whole thing is a bit of a farce. The draft is completely compromised. Can't gift them Sanders but here's a whole bunch of first round picks so you don't have a sook.

We should know better than anyone that clumps of high draft picks isn't a recipe for success.

GWS and Gold Coast would've won 10 premierships between them if that was the case.

It won't matter how many high draft picks North receive if they don't get the player development and the culture right.

I think North are positioned pretty well. The bulk of the pain has happened. None of their talent has really dropped off like ours did during the Neeld years, their midfield already looks very solid, they have one of the best key forwards in the comp, and the best coach of the modern era.

if they actually use this capital to fill the rest of their gaps over just picking more best available mids I could see them contending in three years.

Yeah that's fair, someone like Thomas is a great barometer of that. If he played for Melbourne in our era he would have been delisted already
