Essendon dont have the building blocks that we have, you have to draft a good core to build around then you fill in the edges via trade and F.A. We've done both of those but for some reason we seem to have slowed down after Langon, May and Lever.

Unless its trading to upgrade picks im not interested. Sit on our hands please and take our picks to the draft

Is selling the farm for both picks 10 and 17 from GC an option?

Throw up 26, 34, the 2 picks we get for Harmes and Grundy?

Adelaide might throw in a future first so we could still have to do more but it might be better than going into the draft with 26 and 3 picks in the 30’s.

Those 4 picks are barely enough for 10 alone let alone both.

Harmes decision making speed on full display.

He makes decisions about where he plays at about the same pace he makes decisions on the field.

Begs belief he has taken since his exit meeting until now and still yet to decide.

He’s going to nominate Bulldogs this afternoon apparently.

What is he worth? I’d hope we get better than pick 38?

Sorry that was my fault for thinking you were worth talking to 😂

Don't blame yourself Zeke, no one here expects you to engage in anything like a reasonable discussion.

However, at the severe risk of taking you seriously...Frawley was AA and with a far greater output than McKay. The AFL also manipulated the system so Melbourne was unable to match the offer from Hawthorn by only taking into account Frawley's final year in his front loaded contract. If Melbourne were able to match the offer back then they would have absolutely done it, no doubt about it, they did not want to lose him. Frawley was paid a massive (back then) salary for a defender and slotted into a premiership defense making them even better.

McKay is a good ordinary player going to a shit team, that's it, but good for North to get it, the AFL was always going to do to give them the handouts this year.

I’m suggesting we also include our first (or second) next year

North are the other side that can make a strong move actually.
Id say why? 10 and 17 is nothing special anyway after the academy and compo. They'll be like 14 and 21 maybe even 15 and 22. I think the risk that we miss the 8 next year is way too high

I get the feeling we’ll probably move him on for less. We’d probably be happy to get his money off the books if he’s not if our plans. Which he clearly isn’t.

That second one could even be late 20s. In the top 25 or so, you've likely got at least two FA compos (potentially more), two priority picks, four academy picks and two father-sons.

Most compromised draft since expansion.

In the 2025 draft group GC have about 6 really talented kids in their academy who dominated the AA team, it's only going to get worse sadly

How many trades have happened? At the moment I think we have more compo picks that have been gifted than actual trades completed.

Levi Ashcroft and the 2 Camporeale twins as father sons are currently looking like top 5-10.

Not that I have a problem with the father son thing, but when you add the academy and compensation picks you’re basically scavenging over the leftovers.

Think the bigger issue is AFLs dependence on F/S and academy kids coming through to top up the talent.

Not many mums advocating AFL at junior levels over other sports like Soccer when they see blokes like Maynard and Cripps get told knocking players out is fine if it’s a “football act”.

Lol so there's no under 18 to talent because kids stopped played footy this September?
Come on man.
The problem is they've weeded anyone with personality or a troubled past out of the game and made it so only elite long distance runners can play.

“Blokes like”, it’s been going on for a while. You know, people getting concussed when playing the game? All that jazz? Not protecting players? Excetera excetera

I think it's been overlooked a bit that we are actually shaping up to have a bloody good draft hand albeit not a top 5 pick.

Rather than throwing away picks trying to move a couple of spots up or bring in players who won't fix anything, I'd be more than happy for us to take 5, 13 and 26 to the draft and package together whatever other picks in the 30s to try and get another one in the 20s or teens.

4 picks in the top 30 really should be able to get us at least a couple of really good players.

I also think we will be working on bringing at least one good player in aside from McAdam. I dunno why people care about whether who we're into is already known to the media on day 2.

Pick 3 for Frawley was fine IMO. First round pick for an AA (premiership) player who was one of the best in a struggling side with very little talent.

McKay is potato, from memory North have a lot more talent that the Dees did back then.
100% agree. If McKay gets pick 3, Frawley should've got pick 1. Fn loved Frawley at the Dees. Was gutted he left. Not too many Kangas supporters gutted McKay is leaving.
