Interesting snippet from the Herald Sun regarding Curtin.

Curtin’s manager, Jason Dover, believes he can be a genuine key defender and was one of the best West Australian prospects in a long time.

Dover has made clear to clubs that Curtin is a generational talent who could wind up like Jeremy McGovern.

But the brutal truth on Curtin is that some recruiting experts believe he picks and chooses his moments on the field.

Curtin played as an inside midfielder and a key defender this year and some have likened him to Matthew Pavlich.

Others say he looks a nice type … and also point out as did Jarrod Brander who was drafted by West Coast at pick 13 in 2017 and delisted 22 games later.

There are fears Curtin is not capable of being a key defender or an inside midfielder
at AFL level.

I get this thinking but still reckon he will at least be a gun 3rd tall defender who reads the play well and is a quality user at worst. That's the floor.

Be prepared for when we use pick 6 on a bloke who will sit behind Langdon/Hunter/Billings and Brayshaw for a role on the wing and be competing with Howes/Woey as depth.

In parallel while we use pick 11 on a bloke no one has going before pick 15 and we could’ve used our original pick 14 to snare anyway but instead threw away 2 second rounders

All while passing on the potential next Bont/Fyfe and Curnow
Why do you want instant impact with an 18 year old? If you want instant impact take Coby Stevens at pick 6 and have fun with that.

Potential next Bont/Fyfe and Curnow? I certainly don't see what you see. He's not that mobile, his lateral movement is poor, the evidence of midfield scope is next to nothing, his defensive work 1 on 1 is meh. There's absolutely no bont or Fyfe in his game.

but but he was highly ranked in all the mock drafts so if he slides we've got a bargain right? 😄 🤣

Curtin = Bont
Leake = Fyfe
Caddy = Curnow

Will seriously rage if we give away a F1 to move up the board 2 spots and take Colonel Sanders. If Duursma slides, then fair enough. I don't see Sanders offering anything we don't already have an abundance of. Duursma/Curtin surely the target if we do it. Duursma a real chance if Norf are seriously looking at Curtin(which they should imo). Maybe we've got wind of that?

I think we're safe from that happening. I'm thinking it's most likely Watson.

Surely we don't need another one paced mid in Sanders

We do need a couple more decent mids tbh. But Sanders just seems more of what we've got. Watson I'm really undecided on. He could be anything. Just not a fan of using a top 4 pick on a 170cm forward pocket. I'd rather Watson than Sanders.

Geez the recruiting department is testing the goodwill they’ve built with the fanbase if they were to trade up to take Watson or Sanders.

Please god hawthorn don’t trade with us

We will get there F2 back anyway, pick 23ish. So it’s basically us trading 2024 pick 18 for hawks 2024 pick 23.

5 pick downgrade for a 2 pick upgrade.

Would do it any day of the week to upgrade Windsor to Watson/Sanders.

Going from a good wingman to cream of the draft.

Cream of the draft? Thats Reid, Walter and McKercher, and potentially Curtin. Watson/Sanders are in the next bracket along with Windsor etc. I don't see the point unless you've got a specific need. Sanders and Watson don't really fit that bill.

Watson doesn’t fit the bill? Did you not watch our recent final series with **** all creativity up forward?
