Absolutely he is just stuffing them around, no way is he revealing his hand. 12 for the North picks makes no sense because Cleary would be taken with our third pick, so they'd need to trade one of the North picks out. We don't have that many list spots available.
We can take 3 players in the national draft and just the 1 rookie though, with Reid shipped off to the rookie list too. Kinnear even mentioned moving the 2nd pick up a while back (wouldn't make much sense unless we thought we might get it before a bid match with the 3rd pick).

Late mail write-up from the HSun/Code

Sydney is expected to take just the two selections at the draft, and who it nabs at pick 12 will depend on who is left on the board.

The Swans have hit the phones trying to move up the board but no clubs are willing to shift back. Connor O’Sullivan, James Leake, Caleb Windsor and Darcy Wilson are in the mix, and O’Sullivan appears to be their No.1 target, but they might all be gone by the time they’re on the clock. If they are all snapped up, Northern Knights ruckman Will Green could have his name called by the Swans, but they are also open to shifting back in a trade with North Melbourne’s pick 17. However, this appears unlikely.

Don’t be surprised if ‘Bidney’ wreaks havoc again in the first round, with the Swans showing interest in Suns academy small Jake Rogers and Western Bulldogs father-son Jordan Croft.

Sydney expects to receive a bid on inside Caiden Cleary somewhere in the second round, with Collingwood, who holds pick 19 and 33, and Richmond (29 and 41) looming as the main threats. However, the Swans are no certainty to match a bid if there are other players on offer that they prefer.

Ruckman Vigo Visentini is another who could be in the mix in the second-round if they don’t take Green at the top. Sydney also has academy members Indhi Kirk, the son of Swans champion Brett, and ruckman Caleb May as Category B rookie options in the likely event they slide through to the rookie draft, with Kirk looming as the frontrunner.

My order
Wilson
Schoenmaker
Hardeman, ZZ, Murphy, Will Green,
C Edwards, Leake

The first two (scho especially) a chance to play earlier. The later 6 to develop for a few years.
Not much chance of Wilson unfortunately. I'd gladly spend our Norf end of round pick next year to move up to get him tho

Edwards and Leake I put a wrung below as both look less likely to be the great player they might be compared to the others IMO though certainly have the same ceiling as the other 4 above them of being solid best 22 players.

ZZ I'm including based on one BF poster's recommendation as he was right about Gus.
I’m on similar page to your picks apart from Green & Murphy… I’d throw in De Mattia instead (then we could have 2 Harry’s 😂)

Yep actually said that was the smart call but was shut down here and let it go, seems the recruitment agrees with what I was saying. By all means if one of the players is there at 12 go for it, if not trade back to North's 17 and 18 and take eith both picks this year or flip one to next year.

Was it a smart call by KB last year though?

We could’ve had Weddle who looks like being the 200 game KPD that we’re crying out for

Weddle won’t be a KPD for starters. Was drafted to play a utility and Hawks see him as a mid.

Very happy taking the small forward last year

Konstanty might turn out to be great, and I think some discussion on him and other injured first years have been a bit unfair (or just first years having to be in our VFL team this year), but I'd have preferred Weddle even if he was a utility.

Problem is he’s not going to be a true tall and banking that pick via trade allowed us to trade in Adams/Grundy easily it was a smart calculated plan.

What is a TRUE tall , just worried as you had confusion with smalls

True Tall - Logan McDonald. Unafraid to actually high point a ball and use his size to play the game

Faux Tall - Jesse White was a good example. Guess its probably now Ladhams. Built like Tarzan, plays like Jane

I'm a big fan of McDonald but geez I reckon you've been pretty generous there with the bolded. If anything I would say the major thing that can help him elevate his game would be realising he's actually a big fella and using that to his advantage more.

The high point is 20-40m in the air btw.

It wasn't some master plan for those guys, however we would have thought the extra picks would be useful for academy matching or to be used in trades (given we knew the salary cap room that was incoming).

When you've just had a year where Blakey and Fox were the only KPDs at times, and you haven't actually improved your KPD numbers or the reliability of your group, I care a bit less about whether someone is a "true tall". If they're a winger who is serviceable down back, that's more useful than another small forward. You can then push a wing option like Campbell forward.

It's done now anyway, and I have decent hopes for Konstanty. Whether he boots Papley or Wicks out of our lineup anytime soon is unknown.

He's at least taken pack marks or tried too. The best Ladhams has tried to do is nudge his opponent under the ball.

I said high point the ball; basically mark it at the highest possible point to give the opponent no chance at it

I suspect that we are hoping either O'Sullivan or Leake will be available at our pick, otherwise we will take Green. His name has been mentioned several times now.

If we take Green, can't see us rookie listing May.

My prediction (which no doubt will be wrong) is we draft Green and Cleary, Cat A rookie Reid Cat B rookie Kirk

Still don't understand why Cabor doesn't even rate a mention as a rookie pick

Agreed. Has shown heaps more than Kirk.

I will be irritated by but agree with any charge of nepotism if we take Kirk. Would be no other explanation. As bad as a clearly outclassed Tom Longmire playing VFL.

That would still leave an extra spot on our primary list.
