Guys, I keep deleting posts referencing this, but can we move away from suggesting or making juvenile jokes about the bloodlines of players.

This is a public forum and parents of players do read here.

Has there ever been a Father/Son who's gone at "overs" in the draft? They always seem to slide, like Daicos at 4, Davey til 40s, even Maginness slid to 31 after being touted in 20s.

Lends weight to the theory that clubs generally have a gentlemens agreement to get these guys to their clubs.

Ayce Cordy is one who comes to mind, but that was under the old system I think. Went at pick 14, played 27 games

The SA Captain is an ego kicker

He draws the one WA forward at a kickout

Handball to Mccabe and they 1-2 the ball to the wing

Instead he bombs it and gets a turnover and goal

I only watched the final 15 minutes of the SA vs. WA game because of how unstable my Wi-Fi is (forget the fact I pay Telstra however much to have 300 mbps fiber-to-the-premises Wi-Fi).
I watched McCabe pretty closely in the last 15 minutes. He certainly has the attributes. You can see his height, but he moves quite smoothly for his height and appears to be a natural CHB, which is exactly what we need down at Waverley Park. He should slot very nicely alongside James Blanck (and hopefully Denver Grainger-Barras) for the next decade. But it is clear that he is raw. His major moment in the last 15 minutes wasn't great as he mistimed jumping up for the mark, which allowed Sam Van Rooyen to mark and have a shot on goal for WA, but you can see his talent. We should draft him anywhere from the late first round to pick 40 range. He was named one of the best by the SANFL website.

Could he play the Nick Holland lead up Forward.

Holland had incredibly vice-like hands and was a strongish build even in his early years, and was lumbering in an athletic kind of way.

McCabe lightening quick, silky smooth, not as good in the air.

With that thin build he'd be a fair way off being a lead up forward at AFL level, even if he has the swingman gene going for him. Have not heard much about him playing forward though.

Not really sure what McCabe will be at the AFL level. Way too skinny to add enough weight to be a KPD I think? And then does he have the skills, decision making, speed to be that HB distributor we already have plenty of? I hope he makes it but I'm just wondering how it all plays out!

Could probably play Wing & be dangerous with his marking ability & tank. Fair chance he plays behind the ball to start with though.

Mason Wood has shown the value in a tall marking hard running winger.

McCabe is infinitely more talented and athletic.

Weddle + McCabe on a wing. That's going to be hard to stop aerially.

Way too skinny to be a key defender? He's light, sure, but he's also 17. He's already 6 kgs heavier than Sam Darcy's draft weight.

Like we've seen with Ned Reeves, Mitch Lewis and now DGB, you don't draft key position players expecting them to nail that role within 3-4 years. There's no reason Will couldn't add 15kgs in that time.

That would be lovely.

The Dear family, Calsher far left in the black jacket. Looks very promsing as a key forward.

If Calsher wants to play AFL i can see the club offering him a rookie spot.

Would require a little developing, however i feel it would be worth every second we invest in him. Plays very much like his dad, a good contest mark, can kick a bag of goals and lend a hand in the Ruck.

Not likely to be picked up at this stage.
