Guys, I keep deleting posts referencing this, but can we move away from suggesting or making juvenile jokes about the bloodlines of players.

This is a public forum and parents of players do read here.

the difference comes off our 2024 first pick if the bid is in the first round - that would be a disaster to have it pushed back
exactly, we should be willing to walk away if bid comes before pick 12 and if we are in deficit by 500+ points. If we have Pick 6 next yr, that would mean we slide to pick 13.

I am still not clear on if Lions had enough points to cover for their 2 FS picks( Ashcroft & Fletcher) last year, by my calculations they were in deficit by some 200 points. See no coverage of that.

McCabe is listed at 17 in the draft talent rankings, odd to see Bulldogs FS listed at 23 when most others have him at 12-13

They’ve also got Watson at 8. I’d be shocked if he was there past pick 5

Based on current ladder order, and the 20% FS discount, our deficit would only be 184 points if we matched pick 11 With 31 and 50. That would not affect a top 3 pick next year, but for picked 4 onwards we would slip down one spot. F/S picks usually go later than true value, so I doubt we will be in deficit at all.

As I said earlier teams usually honour father sons that have nominated and let them get to where they want to go. It's almost like an unwritten law / gentleman's agreement of sorts.

Lets hope the fact he wasn't named All Australian he is a slider because we are definitely drafting him

Didn't help that SA completely sucked.

Came across an article about school footy where Ned Maginness is mentioned.

It caught my eye, because it reads like Ned will be picked up by the Hawks?

Enter Scott Maginness, premiership player at Hawthorn who has one boy (Finn) playing at the Hawks and another (Ned) on the way, who was playing on Saturday alongside Smith for Scotch.

If he isn't on an AFL list I'd love to get him into Box Hill. He's one good preseason focusing on finishing away from being a very exciting prospect.
Pre COVID Box Hill used to have extra list allowances for Hawthorn father sons.

Unsure if this provision is still there, but it's where I'd always hoped we'd give Devlin Brereton, Louis Thompson, Jerome Lawrence, Tom Graham etc another year or two before we fully close the door on putting them on the HFC list.
