Fixture has finally been released (1 day early).

Gill would have been fuming it was leaked by The Age :laughv1:

Going against the grain however I would prefer to see the Dog's keep it. Thinking broadly about AFL, these clubs do need a leg up. We have smashed our membership record, have the highest fan attendance of any Vic team (so I read) and we will be filling out games regardless next year. Feeling for the Doggies, they deserved to keep it.

What's the leg up though? The last two years the crowd was 28k and 32k and TV ratings abysmal. Nobody was turning up or watching anyway.

Generally don't know but what were they drawing without the Good Friday fixture? With two smaller Vic base clubs it was always going to take time to take off, doesn't help that North on field are pretty abysmal. I just think it was good that a prime time/special event fixture was assigned to two smaller clubs.

Feel for the Dogs but ultimately it was a mistake to give the game to them and North. You can't have two low-drawing teams playing in a marquee spot.

It's a great cause but it's a drain on the AFL which is unsustainable. I'm not at all surprised they've moved to rectify that, Carlton is a massive club that generally outdraws both even if we're doing poorly.

Giving the marquee spot to North and the Dogs isn't the leg up - getting them out of it is.

Couldn’t get a harder start to the season.

It’ll be a battle in round 1 but I reckon we can jump the cats in r2. No Selwood, no Hawkins (or a lesser version of him) and a few too many nights out celebrating their premiership could be enough to give us a big chance in that. North should be a win and Adelaide will be a coin flip I imagine. Will probably start the season 2-3 or 3-2 which isn’t terrible. I’d rather see us build into the season anyways and make a big run late. Haven’t ended seasons well at all in years. That needs to be the transformation next season.

Yes - think that’s most likely to be a home game.
Calculating we will play in front of 320,000 fans in the first five rounds … reserve seat memberships in high demand.
I was told a 4 year wait list for seats.

Edit: legends lounge seats, that is. Was trying to get an additional seat near our current ones.
