I think you misunderstand, to me the final results in ladder position is all that you can really count on. Every thing else is speculation and names and hype.
Carlton have been finals bound every year for a decade, they made it this year, Essendon are always going to be a finals team, usually top four, haven't won a final for two decades, GC has always had great potential and great players since inception, never made the finals.

Yeah it sounds a narrow view but it is all that counts in the end. Names on a list mean nothing unless results come along.
Yeh thats fair, i think were discussing seperate things.

I personally think West Coast were worse than North this year (5 x 100 point losses, mostly non competitive and copped the dogs in a weird low moment, i dont think the roos really did and were mostly pretty competitive in games) but ultimately theyll finish last and thats indisputable.

I still think pretty much everyone would rather be coaching or supporting the Roos next year than the Eagles.

Undoubtedly. North lost quite a few close ones. Their list profiles are chalk and cheese.

I suppose I am arguing against myself here, but it can be argued that a decent coach brings out the potential of a list, has happened with the Saints this year.
The counter arguement is that the list makes the coach not visa versa. So basically like everything else in football, I have no idea ;)

But if you look at us it’s clearly the coach that has brought out the best in the list.

Again, How do KIDS make north immediately better?

Answer is they don’t.

So whatever concession they get should be one they are forced to trade for experience.

Or is that not the objective of north here and they just want further draft riches?

You'd have to say that off-field issues were a major contributor of North's performance this season, and that therefore they do not need list assistance.
Logic.

The feel of north having 1, 2, 2(compo), 3 and a top 10 NGA prospect in 2 years of drafting would be an ugly prospect from an outsiders viewpoint and I couldn’t imagine they would let that happen.
One would hope not.
But I'm not holding my breath. Make up the rules as they go along.
It's Sham Central at AFL house right now. Headless chooks.

This is all before noting that every club might have some issues with North getting to plunder the draft a few years before Tassie comes in and plunders it.
Well let's hope that every club makes a stink about it.

And if it's a dry night they better get these guys in just to make it fair ;)

Its a no-brainer. They are hoarding for the future and for when Tassie comes in.
They need the good experience now otherwise they'll just stay down the bottom and expect more handouts next year.
How much say will the other clubs get in how this goes down?

If the clubs collaborate and go to AFL to state "we are unhappy and you will fix this" Gil/Andy will buckle and not sign it off until clubs are happy. If there's only a couple, GA will tell them to GAGF and sign the doc for North to rodger everyone.

I have an argument with an old coach of mine - talent versus fitness, he picks talent, but I think fitness, you can be an amazing decision maker, but making good decisions when your totally fatigued is user difficult. A good example is F1 drivers and look at their training program; hard physical exertion then a decision making exercise and repeat over and over. I think what the best coaches do is get their teams to peak fitness and then builds a game plan around the playing groups strengths.

Ross and Co did that this year and they adjusted so well to some of their challenges I don't think it was a coincidence that the wheels started ro fall off when starting 22 players came back in and the group dynamics changed. We then saw in the Melbourne game when Max hurt himself a reset back to the game plan from the start of the year and arguably we played better, just couldn't get it done on the scoreboard - that's something neither Ratts or Richo were able to do.

The only time I think the coach could have been a total passenger is when Chris Scott joined the Cats and won a premiership - that team was so good anyone could have coached them and ended up having a successful year.

I think people are starting to realise that a list is more than a handful of stars. Bevos comments on the Bulldogs list were very interesting. Basically suggested that their list gets rated because of a handful of guns, but in this day and age you need to bat down to 22/23.

Conversely, people have said we are terrible because we don't have many recognised stars (besides the fact people have been sleeping massively on Sinclair and Wilkie). But reality is the experts that predicted our demise either have no actual idea about AFL lists, or no actual idea about our list. I suspect it's both.

North Melbourne are going to come last three years in a row. I think we can draw a reasonable conclusion that their list right now is appalling. And they will need more than just a couple of high picks becoming good.

I don't think it is a bad list. They have their VFL going well because they are happy to play older and better guys in there instead of chasing wins. Their side looked very similar to ours most weeks. We are gunning our list and maximising oauput. They are happy to soft tank.

Hawks too have really good VFL depth and much better than ours. We run a tight ship and are trying to make the most of what we have. Those others are playing for a future pay off. We somehow seem to have been able to balance both.

Bevo is full of s**t.

They have 3 AA quality mids, probably the best ruckman in the game, 4 blokes who walk up start as the number 1 or 2 key forward at nearly every other club, a decent lock down defender, one of the best interceptors in the game, 2 AA half backs. Dont listen to a man deflecting on a wasted season.

Im not comparing north to ******* Carlton but would you rather be coaching them for the next 3 years with Larkey, Zurhaar, LDU, Sheezel, Wardlaw, McKay, Xerri and whoever they net this year or the Eagles who have a busted McGovern and busted Yeo a busted Darling, Allen, Barass and Kelly?

Potential would have them above the Eagles on a power rankings list.

The Dogs have burn out and mental fatigue after getting flogged in the GF. They probably need to refresh. Their list is top 4. Perhaps they need to ditch Bevo and go in with a fresh set of ideas.

West coast are 4 years behind North. Like when the AFL gave legs up to GC it's too late for North. They've built the foundation and just need time to gel. It's like handing them a brick as a house warming present now.

The AFL shouldn't encourage shit sides to trade out their star players by incentivising with excessive FA compo. Otherwise FA is just a Ponzi scheme where the good sides suck up all the talent and and simpletons down the bottom gamble on turning their cow into a magic bean.

Mccartin ban overturned....the whole things a joke...absolute joke...

I thought it was a week not two and honestly assumed he’d get a week taken off (like they made it two so they could drop one).

No case to answer is weird but the MRO/MRP is ****ing cooked
